Not sure what the one guy is talking about as far as flabby low end, and he can't seem to get it to do what he wants. This only goes to show the reason why this amp was built for the MATURE player not the novice, and especially not the metal heads. Albion is true to boutique as it claims. Furthermore what Steve has created is what Marshal and Vox could never create. The perfect mix of both amps styles. While everyone else is out competing with each other, on who can build the best tube amp today, Albion has already done it. Hands down the best of all worlds. There is however a different type of learning curve. Remember when you could barely turn a knob and change would actually happen? Well here it is. Do with it what you will. If you are a Mature player, you will get it.

well, what disappointed me the most about this amp was the flabby bottom-end. no matter what cab i used, or how i dialed in the e.q. and resonance controls i just couldn't seem to tighten it up at all. single notes DID have a nice round tone and a nice "blossom", but for "chugging" or any sort of palm-muting rhythm techniques, the bottom just seemed to fall apart and flap around. the amp does have some unique and useful features, and the lead tone was fairly happening. i think this head would be great in a multi-amp setup, using it for your lead tones or single note passages. but for rhythm playing, it just wasn't happening for me. when dialed in, single notes have a nice "bonamassa" - type quality to them, and there is plenty of gain on tap in either channel; nice mids, and a sweet high end. overall, for a quasi- three channel amp, i just couldn't get it to do 3 things well, let alone one. my advice would be to check this amp out in person in a store first......youtube vids seem to add the appropriate e.q. and compression to make it sound tight and thick....not really the case in the real world.
