I will probably keep this bass for a long time if not for its entire useful life. I have no plans to mod it and am very happy with it.
Sound
The E string thunders with power and utter low end goodness! So many basses I've had I have fought this but this nails it for me! Currently playing it with no effects thru a Nemesis RS115 and/or an SWR 350x with a Triad cab . Did i mention the bass is dead quiet? It is dead quiet. No buzz or hum. Very even volume across all strings and with the 2 band EQ,or your amps EQ,you should be able to dial in what suits you . You have to like the EMG's , which is why I gave it an 8 .I have not played live or recorded with it. Personally I love the tone . If you like EMG's I would give it a 10. This is a rock/metal bass so if vintage is your style be ready to mod it.
Features
Features...Still made in South Korea. Top load or thru body stringing.24 fret neck thru, EMG 35hz's (passive) with a 2 band 18v eq with a selectable mid point for the treble pot, up to four selections , one at a time , accessed thru the rear cover only. Master volume , blend and EQ. Average quality tuners.Graph tech nut. Decent jack. D'addario strings...
Ease of Use
Easy enough for me . No complaints . Good feel , good action , great tone. Stays in tune , electronics are dead quiet. This allows me to play , not piddle .
Quality
The bass came… read more set up really well . I had to add a little relief and that was it ,almost , see below. It was in tune out of the box! The finish is a dark cherry ,front and back, to include the neck, and has an ominous look to it , goes well with the name . The figured top is really nice and is also carved . Big plus to Schecter for incorporating recessed knobs into the carved top . Tuners are average . Nice job done on the neck thru and the neck pocket, it allows me very easy access all the way up to the 22'nd fret area. The abalone inlays and binding are a nice touch . The black chrome is a nice touch and blends really well with the finish. The jack appears to be a sturdy football style jack. I wanted EMG's and it has them . They are passive , NOT active , but it has an 18 v 2 band EQ .Mechanically it's an average bass and by no means cheap feeling. One thing torqued me... The A slot in the nut had a little super glue in it like it had been cut to low and filled. I reluctantly scraped it out as A was cut a little high for me and I think it may have been spilled into it form nut installation . Not a big deal to me but , I feel it should have been caught and corrected.
Value
Great buy for the money loaded with great features , quality , and it was 50+% off retail when I purchased it.
Manufacturer Support
