I'm pretty happy. I expect to enjoy this for years to come, or until the Vypyr II comes out.
Sound
The only comment I have here, is that happily/weirdly there is NO feedback on Red channels running through this pedal, whereas, straight through to the amp, I have tons of annoying feedback.
Features
You have all heard that this is a must if you have a Vypyr amp, and I'd say that is true. The looper function is worth it alone. It has a surprisingly very accurate tuner. I also like having control of the volume with my foot. Another thing that I really like is that you can change the settings on the amp while watching the screen on the pedal. It's much clearer than trying to read the markings on the amp, especially in a dimly lit room. Of course it has assignable pedals for pitch shift, and wah, as well as volume. It also has the ability, in manual mode to independently switch on/off the delay, reverb, etc...pretty cool.
Ease of Use
It has a pretty skimpy manual, but it covers the bases. For instance, it tells you to hold down a switch for a few seconds to erase a loop you have recorded. Plus you learn to hold down the up/down buttons to quickly scroll to a patch you want. One complaint I have read is that when you lay down a loop, it plays back louder. This is true, but all you have to do is back off the volume pedal a little, record the loop, and then when you want to play over it, push… read more the volume pedal up a bit and the volume is equalized. One more complaint, iv'e read is how hard you have to push to access the tuner, etc. This is also true. I'm 260 lbs, and I have to stand to press it hard enough! There is a screw under the cover to adjust this though. All in all pretty intuitive.
Quality
Mine came with a little bit of aluminum flashing on the bottom edge, that should have been sanded down. but you can barely see it. Generally it is a robust unit, all aluminum, tough switches and strong pedals(also aluminum). I think this would stand up to gigging duty no problem.
Value
Zzounds beat an price online for me again, so value-wise, I couldn't be happier!
Manufacturer Support
So far so good. You can double the warrantu to two years by going online and registering it.
The Wow Factor
I think it looks cool. It definitely is styled with a lot more flair than most pedals. It's strange. But, unlike my Vypyr 75, where I could do without the fangs, this looks great.
