zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Experience increased sensitivity and a constant, feedback-free sound as you move across the stage with the mics in Peavey's Diamond Series.
Overview
A great microphone for vocals! The PVM 22 is a dynamic cardioid microphone that incorporates a neodymium magnet, which has greatly increased sensitivity over conventional microphones. With the mic's diamond coated diaphragm, transient and frequency response becomes flawless. Other features include 50Hz - 16kHz frequency response, and a black rubberized paint finish. Includes stand adapter and mic carry pouch.
The mic's cardioid polar response is one of the most popular patterns in the industry, giving you the freedom of moving within the frontal lobe while maintaining a relatively constant sound. The rear rejection of the PVM 22 is typically 20dB less sensitive than the on-axis response. This helps to reduce feedback from stage monitors and background noise. The cardioid pattern also makes miking easier when trying to get a good sound on non-electric instruments.
The Amorphous Diamond-coated Diaphragm is a patented technology that coats the diaphragm with a super-thin layer of diamond, which offers many advantages over conventional laminating or other materials. Mainly, it improves the stiffness of the large-diaphragm. In return, it keeps the diaphragm super-stiff but ultra-light, which is needed for extended high-frequency response and sharp, crisp highs.

"Senstational mic - beats the sm57 - top of my list for stage use"
This is the premier mic that I recommend and use in sound reinforcement situations, and will continue to be for the time being.
Sound
This is perhaps the best sounding stage mic I've used in this price range. The first moment I heard the sound of this mic I was floored. This mic has a nice, round, warm sound with plenty of brightness where needed. This shines in absolutely any way you use it. Vocals, speech, even micing instruments... this mic will flat out do the job and win you compliments.
Features
This mic has a great feel. It grips very well. I have no complaints here.
Ease of Use
This sensational mic will do the work for you. While I find myself pulling back the high end on many vocal uses, you will find that even running this mic flat, you'll be happy with the sound.
Quality
While this product has proven to be sturdy over all, out of the 50+ I have used in sound reinforcement aps (primarily worship related), I have had 2 break when dropped. On the other hand, I have seen many others mistreated and take the beating. I'm not sure what this means, but these 2 instances have never kept me from recommending this product.
Value
I would easily recommend this mic above any other, including the venerable sm57. Sorry, I know that sounds like blasphemy! Again, I realize that this is just my opinion, but I have seen… read more many sceptical vocalists pleased by the performance of this mic. Only one has insisted on an sm57 after using it, and that person would have sounded better sticking with the Peavey.
Manufacturer Support
Peavey support is the best in the business, in my humble opinion. But then, everyone has different experiences.
The Wow Factor
Styling wise, this is a great product.
