zZounds Gear Experts Say...
The SRH505 further blurs the lines between upright and electric basses. This fretless instrument features a semi-hollow body that adds increased resonance.

Overview
If you crave a bass tool to enrich your creative palette, the Ibanez Bass Workshop may have already built your next instrument. This product group focuses on combining unusual concepts with the bass-building virtuosity on which Ibanez has built its reputation.
Unlike other hollow body basses, the SRH boasts a unique concept: the integration of the authentic feel expected in a hollow body and the key features that distinguish SRH as a contemporary bass. With its sleek, compact, comfortable, lightweight body, the SRH breaks another boundary to open up your playing.
With its maximized hollow space, Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, the 55 mm-thick semi-hollow body delivers a rich acoustic tone. The specially designed forearm contour on the body top offers playing comfort and adds an elegant accent to its appearance. A panga panga fretboard with offset position markers, caps a 5pc Jatoba/Walnut neck with a contoured neck heel that creates a deep neck joint with unfettered access to the upper frets. The custom bridge contains the magic of the AeroSilk Piezo system, which works with D'Addario ECB81 flat wound strings to provide that sense of "air" that characterizes upright sound.

"Great Fretless Bass Guitar"

Wow I took the bass out of the box and made adjustments to the truss rod. Set the action and intonation. I finally plugged the bass in and played through my Darkglass bass head with Amppeg Classic SVT 410 bass cabinet. When I hit the first note and sounds beautiful like I am playing the upright double bass. The dots on the top and lines on the fretboard makes playing notes a lot easier and accurate. When I look at the back and found that I can adjust the volume of each string. Wow I can get a fuller sound of each bass string. Also the tone knob helps with the bass and treble tone.I jammed with the bass guitar on my friend's birthday party. They all love the bass sound.Fron Jazz to Rock N Roll.I would definitely recommend this to the fretless bass guitar players.
