zZounds Gear Experts Say...
70's vintage-feel passive bass. Chrome-covered passive soapbar pickups. Durable saddle anchors for hard picking players.
Overview
If you want a bass that transports you back to hot rods and 60's rock n' roll, then the JTKB is your golden ticket. Its mahogany body, high-powered pickups and solid bridge can take a beating and still produce the warm, smooth sound of a vintage bass.
• The great funky vibe of "pawn shop" axes-with today's intonation and consistency • Chrome-covered passive ACHB pickups • Durable JTB10 bridge anchors for hard picking players • Vintage '60s/'70s feel

The Jet King is a diamond in the rough. I think Ibanez has stumbled on to something here. With a few upgrades this bass could be worth so much more.
Note to Ibanez: Make the bridge out of tempered steel (not cast), use bartolini pickups, Schaler tuners, and upgrade the vol/tone controls.
Sound
I've had this bass since March '08, and for the price it is a steal. Yes it is light and the neck is a dream. I too had a bit of fret buzz, but it was corrected by a minor adjustment to the saddle height. This bass sings! The combination of the Mahogany body and the massive bridge gives it killer tone and resonance. It sounds like a brighter version of the Gibson Thunderbird.
Features
It's pretty straight forward: Two passive Humbuckers with V,V,T controls, and a giant bridge that gives this bass a premium sound.
Ease of Use
Plug and Play. 100%
Quality
So here is the rub... The hardware and electronics are economy class. I've had the bass since March and gigged with it every week since then. The tuners have held up, the pickups are doing great, but I have had to replace the jack and tone pot so far.
Value
This bass is worth every penny and then some.
Manufacturer Support
I Haven't had to deal with support nor the warranty. I didn't feel like a new jack and tone pot was worth dealing with the warranty.
The Wow Factor
If you are into the retro look, go for it. Even if you aren't get it anyway. The bridge is awesome!
