What is Hydrive?
HyDrive transducers represent a revolutionary improvement in bass speaker technology and a major leap forward, fusing paper and aluminum in a roadworthy speaker design that is more robust and efficient than anything available.

With Hartke's HyDrive series, you get the best of both worlds: the warm tone of traditional paper cones and the clear, punchy attack of aluminum. HyDrive's patented Hybrid Cone Technology produces a speaker that uses an outside paper cone to push a warm, deep low frequency and an inner aluminum cone that produces mids and highs that cut, yet still remain sweet.

One of the most important advances with the HyDrive speaker is its power-to-weight ratio. A HyDrive speaker weighs 40% less than traditional speakers and delivers 250 watts for the highest power-to-weight ratio of any bass speaker available. But the innovation runs even deeper. Because of its cast aluminum frame and neodymium magnets, HyDrive speakers operate cooler and deliver more reliable power handling at peak performance.

HyDrive 210C
During the development of the HyDrive combos, all of the crucial aspects that go into designing an exceptional bass combo were intensely considered by both HyDrive engineers and professional bass virtuoso Stu Hamm. Of course you need enough power to ensure you're heard amidst a band in live performance applications, not to mention the importance of roadworthy durability to guarantee your amp can withstand the trials of heavy gigging. Combine read more these two factors with advanced tone-shaping capabilities and seamless performance and you have the HyDrive 210C bass combo.

The 210C houses 2 x 10-inch 150 watt HyDrive neodymium hybrid cone drivers and offers 250 watts of clean linear power. A massive toroidial transformer and internal protection circuitry help protect the amplifier and speaker, allowing the 210C the ability to handle virtually any passive or active bass with plenty of power.

The concentration on designing a durable bass combo cannot be understated. They wanted to be sure that the 210C would stand up to a heavy regiment of touring and playing, so Hartke used only the highest quality plywood, extensive bracing and dado joinery. Hartke also used vinyl covering, a steel grill and steel corners to be certain you have the best protection when you're on the road. The 210C also features the original Kickback design, allowing for better projection in live performance situations. As a result, this combo is not only resilient, but also aesthetically gripping, providing a visual stage presence that is contemporary yet elegantly classic.

The ability to completely sculpt your sound is greatly enhanced by Hartke Shape Control and Bass Attack Overdrive. Also, 7-band EQ plus bass and treble shelving give you an assortment of options with regards to shaping your tone to meet any standard of bass playing in any genre of music. This combination of revolutionary engineering and innovative design results in the most versatile bass combo on the market.

I expect this to last me years. My other Hartke amps have. I bought this to upgrade. You can achieve so much with this amp an you can depend on it.

Sound
The sound from the 2-10" speakers are punchy and so clear. I play an Ibanez 5-string through it and the low B sounds so great and not flat. It's 250 watts of pure solid thump! And the 7-graphic eq makes dialing in your tone so easy. You can play classic rock to country to r&b and anything in between on this bad boy! Even when turned up at around 200 watts it still has clarity and doesn't rattle.

Features
Best features on here is...everything. The bass attack overdrive section is great. It can make your sound turn from soft to gritty and it isn't over-done. And of course Hartkes Shape feature is great. Gives a nice sound curve.

Ease of Use
The manual is great. Explains everything to get your started and gives you tips on how to dial in to certain sounds. Even has a section where you can write down your own custom setting.

Quality
This thing is built like a tank and not that heavy (71 lbs I think). The new speaker designs make it lighter. When I unboxed it there were no problems. No dents, scratches or knicks. And the metal grill is cool looking.

Value
Let's face it we all know 99% of the time you get what you pay for. This is a mid-priced amp thats worth EVERY PENNY. And it read more has Hartke quality! If Stu Hamm, Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey and many others use them you know they are awesome!

Manufacturer Support
I gave it a 10 but to be honest I never have had to deal with their support system (knock on wood) which is a good thing! I been playing Hartke for years.

The Wow Factor
It's big and sexy.
