The vocal sound from my pair of Gemini RS-412 is miserable. It's muddy, boxy, boomy, everything you don't want in a vocal sound. I could get an almost usable sound by maxing out the treble and cutting the bass on my Behringer mixer and doing the same on the speaker's own controls. This added a shrill, cutting top end that created whistling feedback from the Shure SM58 microphone. No amount of fiddling with the dials could get rid of the foggy midrange that sounded like a blanket over the sound. My proof that it's these speakers that have the problem is that I have previously been using this same signal chain plugged into the effects return of a guitar amp - which bypasses all of the preamp and goes straight into the power amp- this setup produced pretty fine results, it just looked funny. I am definitely going back to my make-do arrangement, it is so much better than these "PA" speakers.I will say that they LOOK good, the materials look durable and the design is handy, handles everywhere. They sound like holy crap. Too bad that it's all show and no go.
