Overview
Guild introduced its first dreadnought models in 1963; the D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee and the D-50 Bluegrass Special. Renowned for their balanced, articulate sound and excellent projection, these models quickly found favor with flatpickers and fingerstylists alike.
Today's D-50 Bluegrass Special features a solid red spruce top with red spruce scalloped bracing, solid rosewood back and sides, tortoise bindings, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, pearl dot inlays, bone nut and saddle, and pure nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
Guild's R&D guru Chris Fleming explains some of the distinct features of the D-50:

Great sounding, Great feeling, Great playing, Great looking, Great construction, Great price. Just the overall "most Bang for the Buck" guitar out there. Way to go Guild! I've owned guitars that cost twice as much but were not as good. (get the D-Tar pick-up model, you'll love it.)
Musical Background:
I've been playing non-professional for over 40 years, and owned countless guitars.
Musical Style:
Folk, Bluegrass, Singer Songwriter, Country, Rock, Blues
