zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Tap into that rich Les Paul tone with the humbucking LP Junior Special-- the vibe of the LP junior and kicked up a notch with improved electronics.

Originally issued with a single P-90 pickup in the bridge position, Les Paul Juniors have often been modified to humbucker status for thicker, creamier tones. With the Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Humbucker Electric Guitar, Gibson USA takes you straight there in a pre-modded, hotrodded dual-humbucker guitar equipped to carry you everywhere a Les Paul Standard wants to go. Powered by two of Gibson's most popular humbucking pickups, and loaded with classic hardware, the Les Paul Junior Special Humbucker is an outstanding value.

Features

- Solid Mahogany body with hi-gloss nitrocellulose finish
- Mahogany neck with '60s SlimTaper neck profile
- Dark Obeche fingerboard with dot inlays
- Powerful 490R Humbucker in the neck and hotter 498T Humbucker in the bridge
- Vintage-style white-button tuners with 14:1 tuning ratio

Tonewoods

Just like the first Les Paul Junior built in Kalamazoo 57 years ago, the Les Paul Junior Special Humbucker is made from solid mahogany. An archetypal tonewood used in countless classic Gibson electric guitars, mahogany has a sonic depth and richness that pulses through every note, yet always remains clear and articulate. As a further modification to the slab-bodied template, the Ebony Black model excludes the pickguard for that full-on hotrodded look.

The Les Paul Junior Special Humbucker's neck is made from quarter-sawn Grade A mahogany, carved to the fast yet comfortable SlimTaper profile, with a fingerboard of Dark Obeche, a rich-brown read more hardwood with excellent tone and durability. For hardware, the Gibson USA packs in a classic set of Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, with vintage-style white-button tuners.

Electronics

For all the meat and muscle you'll ever want to muster, the Les Paul Junior Special Humbucker carries two of Gibson USA's most popular humbucking pickups, an open coil 490R in the neck position, and a hotter open coil 498T in the bridge position.

The 490R is made with a genuine Alnico II magnet for creamy, rich, warm tones, while the 498T has a stronger Alnico V magnet and extra turns of coil wire for added growl and punch in the 'lead' position. Both provide superb clarity and sustain, and they make a well-matched set, with a balanced output and excellent round, funky tones when combined in the middle position.

Protected in a padded Gibson gigbag, with an owner's manual and coverage from Gibson's Limited Lifetime Warranty, as well as Gibson's acclaimed 24/7/365 Customer Service, the Les Paul Junior Special With Humbucker is one of the best values out there in a genuine Les Paul from Gibson USA.

The Les Paul Junior

Gibson's Les Paul Junior has been a no-nonsense favorite of rock 'n' rollers ever since its introduction way back in 1954. This single-cutaway slab-bodied electric guitar has always had a simplicity and affordability that has appealed to punk, blues, grunge and garage rockers, yet a tonal depth and purity that has landed it in the hands of plenty of more refined players, too.

Had it for 8 hours now and it is awesome the tone is unbelievable and I can not put it down. I am a strat player and never took a huge liking to set neck guitars but then I never spent alot of time playing them. Always loved Gibson tone and decided to add one to my collection. I havent been this excited with a new guitar since I was a little kid. My strats are going to beseeing alot less action now that I have the Gibson

Sound
It is ready to play any style you want the pups are great ,neck or bridge. clean or dirty . It has a really balanced sound not to much one way or the other. But I love the way it sounds driven the best. Metal ,blues , etc. your good here.

Features
Me , I would prefer one vol. one tone but thats a personal preference. Its sweet and no real issues. The new fret board wood if you ask me is dyed black rosewood . But if it is obeche FEAR NOT !!!!!! Its like I said I swear its rosewood same grain , etc. Iknow from different chat sites there alot of bad talk from people that havent even played on it yet. DO NOT let that influence you you will not be disappointed...

Ease of Use
Does all well and plays nice with others.

Quality
The finish is good but not top end still no complaints. i ssue with the fret edges they are not filed down enough and read where someone else had the same issue. Called Gibson and the said take it to an autherised tech. read more no problem. They also offered to pay to have it shipped to Nashville TN. and fix it at the factory if I wanted. NO B.S. Its not that serious but wow that blew my mind. Hows that for standing behind your product.

Value
Depends how you look at it some non USA guitars are breally sweet for less atleast now a days but I prefer to keep my dollar here and well it is a Gibson. I am very happy it is one Bad A** guitar really sweet and well worth the investment and you wont find another Gibson model that plays and sounds as sweet for the $$$. Fast neck great pups and great support. GREAT VALUE....

Manufacturer Support
