zZounds Gear Experts Say...
The Fender CD-220SCE offers fantastic acoustic tone. With a dreadnought body and exotic wood bodies, the Fender CD-220SCE is a great option.
Overview
Solid spruce tops and bubinga, asian striped ebony, or dao laminate bodies make these Classic Design cutaway dreadnoughts good looking and great sounding. A Fender/Fishman Classic 4T active on-board preamp makes them sound great plugged-in, too. Other features include dot position inlays, tortoise shell pickguards, and inlaid back center stripe mosaics.

"Traditional Musicians Will Love This Guitar!"
Barring accidents, I anticipate keeping this guitar for some years to come. Spruce top will improve with age, and nothing looks fragile enough to break without warning.
Sound
I flatpick traditional country, folk and church music. I set this guitar up with light strings for unplugged performances, and it sounds great! Good projection and presence although it might suffer in a large hall.
Features
Has a good onboard tuner that is ideal for a quick pre performance tune up or if a string sounds strange. A check with a Korg tuner after setting up with the onboard showed the guitar was right on concert pitch.
The pickups are crisp and clean and although I have only used a small (30W) amp, there is no distortion evident.
Ease of Use
Didn't like the action with the stock strings, but plays easily with Martin Lights installed.
Quality
This guitar looks fabulous. (I have the Asian "Dao" wood body) High gloss body looks inches thick, gold machine heads give a bit of glitter. It is an acoustic, and glamour only goes so far but it looks workmanlike and seems to be well fitted together, with no obvious blemishes or poor fittings.
Value
Probably a little more expensive than I would have thought for a Fender acoustic, but not outrageous. I forget the price when playing it.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed support, so no opinion here.
The Wow Factor
A good solid workmanlike guitar for the enthusiastic amateur or occasional performer. Nice looker without being a "stand out".
