"Great for experimenting"

I purchased this amp primarily on it's looks and the use of 6v6GT power tubes. The cabinet itself is good, but not excellent. While the front and sides are great, the rear panel could fit better. The amp itself is a lot of fun, the three inputs do have distinct voices and response depending on the guitar. I will say it comes to life when used with my Sheraton II Pro, almost like it was specifically designed for that guitar. The ability to bias the power tubes easily makes the amp a good playground for experimentation. I found the stock tubes to be serviceable but nothing more. I first installed a set of shouldered glass 6V6G Phillips tubes (1940's era) I had on hand with the stock pre-amp tubes and was quite amazed with the sound. Currently I have a full set of new JJ's installed (pre- and power amp) and it's an improvement over stock for sure but I may go back to the old 6V6G's. Overall, this amp is worth the price if you like the looks. I won't say its better, as-good-as, or worse than my other amps but I like it.
