Digital Sub-Harmonic Synthesizer with Limiter. Digital sub-harmonic synthesizer. Integrated limiter for low-frequency speaker protection.
Overview
Whether in your disco or club, your cinema, with your touring PA or your home stereo, you'll add an entirely new musical dimension to your sound. You can choose between "Full Range" for compact systems and "Split" for satellite systems with subwoofers. A wealth of additional useful features makes the Ultrabass Pro an unbeatable "power station."
The Behringer Ultrabass Pro generates additional sub-harmonics - musically important frequencies, which can be set to one or two octaves below the lowest frequencies present in the original signal. The generated tones are based on waveform analysis and harmonize perfectly with the original sound. The sub-harmonic synthesizer creates a new frequency spectrum, giving you a beefy low end that warms the heart of any bass freak.
Not only does the Pro EX1200 come with all this, its waveform processor musically restores low frequencies normally lost in the recording process. This processor releases untapped sonic resources and adds power to instruments, vocals, and mixed program material. Not only that, but a built-in limiter protects against low-frequency speaker over-excursion.
Now you can have even more control over your bass tones, with a dynamic punch control that adds breathtaking kick bass to your program material. At the same time you have a bass mode control that allows you to fade over from "ultra-low" to "punchy" bass sounds. You'll have precision control over your output level, while gain reduction LED displays provide clear… read more visual indication of operation.
Caution is advisable when generating energetic sub-bass frequencies. Constant overloading can cause irreparable damage to your system. That's the last thing Behringer wants! So they've integrated a switchable frequency crossover, allowing you to separately process the low end and route the sub-bass frequencies to a separate subwoofer output.

"Good bass enhancement for your buck."
Verified Purchaser

This turned out to be just about exactly what I expected it be. It is useful and easily controllable.
Sound
This unit sounds great if used properly. If you're not careful, it can however, turn your tracks into dull, muddy, bass headaches.
It is easy to attune the bass sound to fit your music program, from sustained rumbles to punchy thump. When used with a bass instrument alone, you certainly get an "off" pitch-shift tracking, but with accompanyment, this is less noticable. This is a great devise for filling in sub freqs, and is quite helpful for bringing out bass lines in a complex or busy mix. It is also great for making your bass sounds more legible through your neighbors' walls.
Features
The limiter is good if you don't turn it on and off during play, which can cause it to thump, sometimes. Why would you do that anyways?
Basically, this is a glorified sub-octave pitch shifter. It does have good sound, and has nice controls for bass levels and dynamics.
Quality
I bought mine b-stock from this site, and there is a little bit of scratchiness to one of its potentiometers, but otherwise it is a typically very well built behringer device.
Value
Yes, for the price, you get a great amount of bass.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't tried to get support.
The Wow Factor
Bass is sexy, inherently. I now wish I had a sub in my studio.
