Audio-Technica AT-OC9XML Dual Moving Coil Cartridge

Trust the Audio-Technica AT-OC9XML cart for reduced distortion and excellent high-frequency transient response, thanks to its nude microlinear stylus.

The Audio-Technica AT-OC9XML Dual Moving Coil cartridge with Microlinear stylus is designed to provide outstanding channel separation. The Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting (PCOCC) coils ensure pure audio transmission and are aligned in a reverse V-shaped formation to exert less pressure on the stylus, thereby minimizing distortion. Audio quality is further enhanced by a rigid aluminum body that reduces resonance, a neodymium magnet and premium permendur yoke that increase the magnetic energy, and the nude Microlinear stylus on a boron cantilever that tracks the record groove with incredible accuracy, low distortion and high-transient response. The cartridge body has been pre-threaded, enabling it to be mounted to a headshell or integral tonearm with just two screws -- no nuts required.

Features:

- Dual Moving Coil design, featuring independent coils for both left and right channels, provides outstanding channel separation
- The coils are aligned in a reverse V-shaped formation, which exerts less pressure on the stylus, thereby minimizing distortion
- The cartridge body is pre-threaded, enabling it to be mounted onto the headshell or integral tonearm with just two screws -- no nuts required
- Nude Microlinear stylus and boron cantilever provide lower distortion and high transient response
- A neodymium magnet and a premium permendur yoke with high saturation flux density and outstanding magnetic properties further enhance the concentrated magnetic field of the coil gap read more
- Aluminum body minimizes unwanted vibration for reduced resonance and superior audio reproduction
- Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting process (PCOCC) is used for the coils to achieve pure signal transfer

I started collecting vinyl about 7 years ago and have owned multiple turntables and multiple cartridges. This one has completely floored me! I have been looking for a specific sound when listening to my records and I have finally found it. This cartridge is the stereo separation king! There may be higher-end carts that do it better but for the money, this is the best I have ever heard. You add that on top of the soundstage and openness this cart offers and you have a real winner. The previous cartridges I have owned are AT-VM95e, AT95EX, VM540ML, Ortofon 2M Red. Just to give you an idea of my experience (which is limited)This is my first MC cartridge and I am pretty confident in saying I can never go back to MM. There was nothing wrong with any of the cartridges I owned, the VM540ML was an absolute beast and I strongly believe for the money it is the best cartridge out there. This is just on another level. I have stereo separation on my speakers I have only experienced while wearing headphones. If you are on the fence because this is an expensive cartridge trust me you will not be disappointed!
Features
Setting up a new cartridge is not a simple task. It is fiddly and needs to be very precise. I finally decided to buy the Audio Technica AT-LH11H Headshell and that made it so much easier.
Quality
This cartridge feels extremely well built
