Ampeg B200R Rocket Amp Customer Review

It sounds great. Still too early to make a real prediction. If lost or stolen TODAY I would replace with same. Good looks, great sound and a great price.
Sound
I've owned a Peavy Combo 300 for two years. The rich clear warm sound of this tubed Preamp is superb in the B200R. I play 50 & 60's rock & roll, blues and pop music. I also play some folk and basic blue grass through a Hoffner wannabe. In a pinch in will work as an acoustic guitar amp too.
Features
For what I play this is the best. Tubed Preamp. Basic EQ with enhanced Ultra high, mid & low. XLR line out. Headphones out with level adjustment. You can select bass with or without tweeter. Classic amp look.
Ease of Use
Still figuring it out; so far easy as eating pie. Actually far easier to use than my Peavy which utilizes 8 band equalization. My needs are pretty basic and I run a DigiTech BP80 through for some distortion and also heavy reverb. Pipeline sounds awesome.
Quality
I've had less than a week. Looks perfect. I cut down the power chord strap because it otherwise makes it difficult to get the power chord unraveled. It looks and feels solid, but too early make prediction on reliability. Ampeg does have a good rep, but this one is made in China and only time will tell. But for the price Zzounds sells it for at $350 it's like stealing. You can attach caster rollers that it comes with,… read more but those things would make the amp rattle (on any amp)so I've used a collapsible folding cart with larger softer wheels.
Value
Definitely worth the price.
Manufacturer Support
I chose Ampeg because other friends that play bass like Ampeg. I've had no reason to contact them.
The Wow Factor
I like the classic look which is a bonus. It is simply a great sounding amp.
