Three Amp Tones in One Killer Pedal
Get the sound of three classic amps and a ton of tonal landscape in one simple stomp with your Tech 21 SansAmp Character Series Blonde pedal. You get silverface, blackface, and tweed amp settings, and you can also use this baby as a tube preamp/tube power amp or a speaker emulator for recording purposes. The speaker emulator defeat switch opens the door to use this stompbox as a straight-up overdrive pedal for some sweet, full-bodied distortion. Your level, mid, character, drive, low, and high controls give you everything you need to get your tone just how you want it -- like a classic amp collection packed into one pedal.
Silverface, Blackface, and Tweed Settings
Your amp-modeling journey begins with the Blonde pedal's Character control. This dial affects your midrange level, gain setting, and attack. The further to the left you turn the knob, the less gain and less attack you're going to get. If you reduce this dial all the way, you're going to get a very pleasant and clean output. Moving in the other direction, you'll hear more midrange and break up for a tone reminiscent of a Tweed amp. Playing with this control will give you a nice cross-section of Silverface, Blackface, and Tweed sounds -- a lot of variety from just one pedal.
Speaker Emulation Defeat Switch
If you want to keep things simple, your SansAmp Character Series Blonde pedal features a speaker emulation defeat switch, which, when engaged, will pull all of the speaker-modeling features out of your signal. This will give your tone a flatter, darker color, but it responds really well to your amp's settings if you want to brighten things up a little more.
Six Effective Controls for EQ, Drive and Level
The three-band EQ controls on this baby give you +/-12 dB for each band -- a lot of room to shape your axe's sound. Just a small tweak of any of these controls will take your signal in a whole new direction. Your drive control brings in more gain and breakup, and your level control will dial in the decibels. With a variety of classic amp sounds in one box, this pedal is a fantastic friend to have for recording sessions as well as live performances.
