Seymour Duncan SP90-1N Vintage P90 Soapbar Guitar Pickup

Drop this pickup in either the neck or bridge position for some added tone! These P90 Soapbars produce a vintage-inspired tone that works in all settings.

With dual alnico five bar magnets and short, wide bobbins, the SP90-1N sports a tonal character with a powerful midrange and higher output than most other types of single coils.

In the neck position, this pickup sounds sweet and smooth, and will deliver big fat sounding chords. In the bridge position, this pickup has sparkly mids that really give it a gritty, open tone. Chords have a nice harmonic bloom, and single notes are glassy and up-front.

Both the neck and bridge pickups are drop-in replacements for any traditional Gibson-sized P90 soapbar. Seymour-Duncan Vintage P90s are wound with plain enamel wire, and they add extra mojo by winding them on the same Leesona winder that was used in the 1950s in the old Gibson factory. Come with vintage braided single-conductor hookup cable and are wax potted for squeal free performance.

Here's what I can tell you. It doesn't really fit in a Gibson SG special. I bought it to replace the pickup in my SG special, but the baseplate of the SD is about 1/32 of an inch too long. The whole is a really tight fit, perhaps the finish is just really thick, but to get it to fit, I had to grind down the baseplate, and even with that, I had to force it into the whole. It does sound really good, but I really don't notice any real difference from the Gibson p90 that was in there.
