Jackson Audio Optimist Dual Overdrive and EQ Pedal

Bring iconic overdrive to your pedalboard! The Jackson Audio Optimist has two distinct overdrive circuits onboard -- each with focused, contrasting tones.

The Jackson Audio Optimist's OD1 circuit is based on the most expensive, hard-to-find, mythical overdrive ever created! For all of its hype, this magical pedal is still one of the most natural-sounding overdrives ever created and has cemented its reputation in the history of guitardom.

Jackson Audio reproduced this circuit in perfect detail to provide the stock tone that people are looking for from this legendary pedal. Jackson Audio updated it with an active EQ (bypass-able) to take this classic circuit into uncharted territory!

Watch Justin dive into the Jackson Audio Optimist in this zZounds exclusive video demo:

Just like the original circuit, OD1 features impossible to find (unless you know how to use eBay) germanium diodes that have been carefully washed in unicorn tears to deliver the best tone possible! Why? Because you deserve the best. You deserve diodes that have been washed in unicorn tears.

OD2 of the Optimist stands in stark contrast to the mid-focused tone of OD1. Designed to be perfectly flat across the full range of the guitar, OD2 is perfect for rhythm work and is a perfect harmonic enhancer for OD1 when you want to boost OD1 even further!

Based on the legendary Baxandall EQ that is featured in countless studio EQ's, The Optimist EQ takes this circuit and tailors it for guitarists! Jackson Audio spent tons of time on this EQ dialing it in so it would hit all the frequencies that guitarists need to adjust and then sweetened it by removing the ear fatiguing read more highs and lows that can appear at extreme settings.

- Studio-grade EQ with High Bandwidth and Flat Response at 12:00
- +/- 12dB Boost/Cut per control
- Center Detents on the pots that make it easier to get back to a neutral or flat response.

The Optimist features MIDI control over all functions! OD1, OD2 and EQ can all be controlled via MIDI for an unlimited selection of tones.

Jackson Audio always want to make sure that the pedals are as easy to integrate into complex rigs as they are into simple rigs and MIDI makes that happen!

I bought this pedal being a big fan of Cory Wong wanting to get that funk push into my Strat. But it has been so versatile that I have become the guitar player I didn't know I wanted to be and I am glad I pulled the trigger on this. For the most part of my guitar career have loved playing rhythm guitar which OD2 (Mid scooped overdrive) helps me play like butter. But that OD1 (Mid push overdrive) with gain up to 3 o'clock adds a thick complimenting transparent lead tone I'd never thought I'd own. Since I've owned this I now stack another overdrive (Friedman OD [Blue Setting] (with no gain but clear dB push) and a mid clean boost pedal (Wong's Compressor [Blue setting based on Clapton's mid push mod]) and I have a soarin' cut through compressed simulated warm tone. Mind you this is in Strat. Shy from a Mayer lead tone but unique enough to always be asked to solo on every song now.The Pre-amp setting also very helpful for any request that I am being givin'. I usually have to put it to use when I have to work with an amp that is less favorable into an amp that sounds that I have been working with for years (I sometimes plug in straight DI or practice amp for rehearsals.)If you're looking for a versatile overdrive pedal this is the one!
