I've had this guitar for four days now. I'm typically more of a traditional/old-school kind of player, sticking to blues/rock/contemporary stuff. I don't play much metal/shred kind of stuff but I used to have an Ibanez RG that I sold a while ago and I was getting the itch for another "shredder" guitar but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I was just looking for a different kind of inspiration. This guitar scratched the itch! The neck feels really good. Frets are well dressed and I did not have any issues with fret sprout or sharp ends. The guitar came set up pretty well for the 9's that were on it but the tremolo was clunky. Also, the nut had a little bit of binding issues. I needed to redo some setup anyway because I changed the string to 10's. I adjusted the nut, only slightly, and the tremolo (I like mine floating) and now we're feeling good. Now for the sound - the pickups really sound good. They have the bite and growl I was looking for but they clean up really well too. If I back off the volume I can even coax some Strat/Tele tones out of these pickups, which surprised me because they are not split or tapped. The only thing that I think would need to be changed are the tuners. They have a lot of play in them and do not stay tuned very well. I put locking tuners on my guitar anyway so it isn't a loss for me. If you're looking for a cheap rocker then you can't go wrong here. I almost went for the JS32 because I like the FR locking trems but I went ahead and saved a few read more bucks and got the 22. I am not disappointed at all.
