What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Okoume body Snappy, highly dynamic attack
Ebonol Fretboard Tight and bright sound
Multi-scale construction Enhanced intonation and string tension; ergonomic
Bartolini BH2 pickups Tight bottom end, punchy midrange, smooth response

The Ibanez SRMS625EX allows you to become one with your instrument! To the newcomer, the multi-scale concept may appear a bit unusual, but the biggest surprise may be how comfortable players become within a minute or two of playing the instrument. The different fret-to-bridge distances enhance tonality, creating a better sounding bass.

The Iron Label line was originally developed with metal and nothing but metal in mind. Ibanez modded and tweaked until they got to the heaviest-hitting metal axes they have ever built. They're purposefully spartan, and you won't find a feature here that doesn't contribute directly to a bone rattling, earth shattering tones these guitars pump out. Carrying forward that same philosophy, the next generation of Iron Label guitars take this raw metal energy to a completely new level. They sport totally blacked out looks, and their supercharged electronics amounting to some of the heaviest-swinging metal axes Ibanez has ever produced.

- 5pc Maple/Walnut Neck:
The 5pc Maple/Walnut neck provides tonal clarity and superior attack.

- Ebonol Fretboard:
Ebonol is a synthetic material which is made from layers of black paper and phenolic resin. An Ebonol fretboard provides tight and bright sound.

- Medium Frets:
Medium sized frets enhance the accuracy of your notes.

- Okoume Body:
The Okoume body provides a bright and solid sound.

- Bartolini BH2 Pickups:
The Bartolini BH2 pickups provide a tight bottom-end, punchy mid-range, and smooth response. The read more dual-coil style configuration maximizes articulation and a long blade pole piece widens the magnetic field, providing balanced string-to-string pickup response.

- Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-Band EQ:
The Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ is Ibanez's latest refinement on the concept of simple, straightforward, no-nonsense EQ control. The Boost and Cut for the Mid Control are each centered on slightly different frequencies, an innovation that delivers a preset range of the most favorable bass tones.

- MR5 Bridge:
The Mono-Rail V is the ultimate bridge for bass string isolation. Each bridge is independently and securely locked down to the body for maximum vibration transfer without interference.

- EQ Bypass Switch (Passive Tone Control on Treble Pot):
The EQ bypass control offers precision tonal adjustments, including a switch to choose passive-only operation. When the EQ bypass is activated, the treble tone control knob becomes the global tone control for the passive circuit.

- 3-Way Mid Frequency Switch:
The 3-way Mid frequency switch allow players to change the mid-tone between 250, 450, and 700 Hz.

- Multi Scale:
Equalized tension helps to create a more "alive", open tone. But the design also improves player comfort. The multi scale construction ergonomically coordinates with the way a player's hand angles as it moves up and down the neck, facilitating quick, comfortable playing action.

This is one bad ass bass! certainly tuned for metal, but really can handle any and all genres of music the tonality of this bass is more like the higher end premium basses like the 2600 Ibanez and even into the prestige Ibanez basses. truly worth more than the price point offered. the only "gripe" I have with the bass is that the head stock is simply flat black painted over a plastic laminate with the typical stock sdgr label that is a high gloss label. if you know anything about flat paints, they require a rougher surface than normal paint at which the paint was already flaking off upon delivery.im not really looking for showmanship at this price point and accepted the fact that Ibanez has some learning to do about spraying flat paints on shiny surfaces. the enlarged nut on the bass is a bit off color and gray as opposed to black overall this bass really hits where you need it and I love the epoxy/paper fretboard of ebanol which delivers the goods. I will most certainly replace all the electronics with emg's when stock electronics fail
