What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:

Wizard III neck Super-fast fretting and maximum comfort
Ebony fretboard Dark color, tight grain; premium fretboard wood
Nyatoh body Warm tone similar to mahogany

The RGD is Ibanez's ultimate metal machine. The demands of down-tuning require a specifically designed responsiveness not found in "normal" guitars. To optimize for the rich, desirable thickness of tone that down-tuning produces, Ibanez extended the neck by one inch to a 26.5" scale. Longer-than standard yet not overly long. The neck is still considered a "fast" neck for speed soloing. Extra-deep cutaways grant comfortable access to the necks highest notes.

Ibanez has been creating innovations which do not only fit the unique demands of players from that period, but also eventually turn into industrial standards, such as 7 string, 8 string and Multi scale guitars. All these started from Ibanez's attitude to be "Innovative, Cutting-Edge and Pioneer". Axe Design Lab is the series fully represents this attitude.

My first 8 string multiscale and I've been waiting for this guitar to be available for over a year. It was well worth the wait. I did get another 8 string while I waited but this one definitely tops the one I bought months before. It's aggressive looking, the Fishmans are lethal, it's lighter than most 8 strings I've played, and stays in tune very well. I will say that I was disappointed when I took it out of the box. The strings were cut way too short when the factory installed them. Not even wrapped around the post once, just halfway through. I do buy new strings when I buy new guitars but still.. The post for the 8th string is too short for it to wrap around it when tuning, and the 8th string (.80) doesn't go all the way through the post hole. Besides that, it's a solid built guitar.
Sound
I was afraid that the 8th string was going to be muddy especially with 9 string pickups, but no. I have it tuned to drop F# and the 8th string is very clear and not muddy at all. It chuggs and shreds.
Features
Very versatile with only 1 knob and a bottom voicing switch.
Quality
The guitar was made well minus the string and post issue.
Value
Definitely is. I think it's worth more than the listed price.
