Let me start off by saying that I recently purchased this guitar and have had a Gibson Slash J-45 for a year. Over the last week I have been doing side by side comparisons, by ear and recording. I can honestly say, hands-down, that the J 45, 50s Faded sounds so much better than my Slash J 45. The “faded” has a fuller, richer well rounded sound, with highl low and mids clearly present. My SlashJ-45 has almost no low end whatsoever, no thump, just mids and very pronounced highs, which is why I decided to try the Faded. I could no be happier. I do have one issue, it’s the amount of nitrocellulose on the Faded. I believe they could’ve added a bit more, when you compare the faded to the Slash, it’s night and day. I swear, the nitrocellulose adds a pond or more to the slash. It takes a bit getting used to, but the sound makes up for it all. It’s a very attractive guitar. It’s nice to see the wood grain in the Faded, that you don’t get to see in the Slash because of the heavy nitro coating on the Slash. I highly recommend trying this guitar.
