Overview
The Gibson Songwriter was introduced in the late 1990s and features a unique Gibson square-shoulder modern dreadnought body design. The Songwriter Recording Artist EC captures the historic tonal advantages of Gibson's famed 1930s scalloped Advanced X-braced top, its 25.5" scale length, and tonewoods inspired by the 1936 Advanced Jumbo, for a sound that is distinctive yet unmistakably Gibson.
Created for connoisseurs of acoustic recording and live performance, the Songwriter Recording Artist EC is a powerful, dynamic, and versatile guitar designed to meet the needs of the most demanding professional players. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, it features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top paired with a cutaway body crafted from rosewood back and sides. The cutaway design provides enhanced access to the upper frets, making it ideal for lead guitarists and others who require expanded range.
The 25.5" scale mahogany neck has a comfortable Round profile and is fitted with a smooth-playing bound ebony fretboard, featuring 20 standard frets and elegant mother-of-pearl diamond eye inlays. The neck attaches to the body with a compound dovetail joint and hot hide glue for maximum tonal transfer and stability.
Premium appointments include a bound headstock with a rosewood veneer, the Gibson logo and Crown inlaid in mother-of-pearl, a bone nut, and gold Grover open-back tuners. The ebony bridge is fitted with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins, accented with mother-of-pearl arrow inlays.… read more The thermally aged spruce top is protected by a custom-line tortoise pickguard and framed by a wide abalone rosette.
As its name suggests, the Songwriter Recording Artist EC was designed with professional recording and live performance in mind. It features the L.R. Baggs HiFi system, including dual bridge plate sensors and an internal preamp, delivering outstanding dynamics, string balance, and note definition while remaining feedback resistant. Discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls allow easy adjustments while staying nearly invisible to the audience.
The Songwriter Recording Artist EC ships with a Gibson hardshell case for safe transport, making it ready for the stage or studio. For modern acoustic guitarists seeking tradition, versatility, and professional-grade performance, this guitar is an exceptional choice.
