Do wish I had better specs on this guitar:Is this a high end guitar? no. Its a studio! but, don't let that fool ya. it will play what you want. Don't get caught up with the marketing term "Shred". or you will miss out on a nice versatile instrument. Is it what you would expect from this price point of modern day Gibson? Yes. although Gibson has been known for - not so pristine craftmanship. the one i have is really nice...i've seen new standards, classics, etc. that were much worse. keep in mind this is not a polished guitar in any sense of the word. you will see wood that is not as smooth as some. especially around the heel joint and back side of the headstock. Cavities are surprising very clean. Matte finishWill it stand up to harsh environments? Yes. It is stout. Please note the headstock is longer than most Gibson's to compensate for the locking nut and be able to put a bell truss rode cover on. So, do with that info as you will. Is mine used for gigging...you bet ya! can take just this one and my little Mesa...one trip in and one trip out...easy peasyWill it stay in tune? ah...YES, Very well. what you would expect from a locking system. Electronics? you will notice that they are not the best. if you try to roll off the tones all the way you may not get what you want...unless muddy and flubby is your desire. I personally, would only roll about half on this guitar, if that. Pull pops- I really don't prefer these as I do on my Custom and Trad Pro. having said that: I will not read more be changing electronics.Pickups? they are really ok; like very ok!...for me. I will not be changing them. They will push an amp a bit...but not adversely...used on: Mesa Mark5 25, Various Fenders, Quilters, and Hughes and Kettners. Body? Oh yea...the chambered body is a plus...weight relief without the threat of neck dive...Gibson hit this spot on. Matte finish...really nice new...but, be aware that after time oils from hand will make shiny spots where they frequently touch. Neck? My first Richlite...Its real nice...and for those didn't know...this neck is bound with black binding...See what I mean about limited spec info?! I thought the edges were a little rough, thought it was fret sprout, as looked closer in the light...ah there it is...I did what do with all new neck bound Gibson...I smooth the edges for that worn in feel...easy to do and unnoticeable to the eye...ah sweet Overall: Remember this is an exclusive spec Gibson...Blacked out...this is not a regular Gibson Studio with a Floyd. That in itself is worth something and must be considered or mentioned. for me Exclusives, Special Runs etc are the ones to consider if they meet your fancy. I am glad to say: I am a proud owner of one! Hope this helps...my scoring is based on Studio models...I am in no way going to be unfair and try to score against another Gibson model.
