Rosewood fretboard Open, warm tone and smooth playing feel
Bumblebee capacitors Sweet, full tone; original '50s design

The Goldtop Les Paul of 1957 stands as one of the most iconic electric guitars ever produced. Retaining the classic gold finish of previous years, the '57 saw the introduction of the now legendary 'Patent Applied For' humbuckers to replace the earlier P-90s. The combination of classic goldtop looks with revolutionary electronics has made the '57 Les Paul one of the most sought-after guitars to ever hit an auction block. With the release of the Gibson 1957 Les Paul Goldtop VOS, Gibson has masterfully recreated these stunning instruments as part of the VOS or Vintage Original Spec series.

Gibson 1957 Les Paul Goldtop VOS

Seth Lover's fabled "Patent Applied For" humbucking pickups were added to the Les Paul model in 1957. These dual-coil pickups, quieter yet more powerful than the single coil P-90s that preceded them, combined with the ABR-1 to create a guitar with unprecedented sustain and tone. The 1957 Goldtop Historic Reissue is equipped with BurstBuckers to faithfully replicate the warm, vocal quality and rich harmonic content of the legendary originals. Now part of Gibson's proprietary Vintage Original Spec series -- the next step in their journey toward perfection.

Vintage Finish
Aged to perfection, Gibson VOS (Vintage Original Specs) guitars undergo an "aging process" for an oxidized finish and all the dings and scratches you would expect from a well-worn guitar. VOS series guitars look and feel like a 50-year-old guitar should.

Sound
It has "the" tone, nuff said.
Features
It's what expect from a Gibson Historical and it delivers.
Ease of Use
I've been playing Les Pauls for over 25 years, it's hard to get used to anything else.
Quality
It would be hard to get "more" quality.
Value
If you want a Les Paul, save your money and get one of the 57 RI's. Don't waste your time on the standards etc. Play one of these first and you'll know why I say this.
Manufacturer Support
I said 10 but I really don't know, as I have never had to contact Gibson about any manufacturing defects.
The Wow Factor
I usually prefer the figured wood models, but there is something about that antique gold finish that is really attractive. I like the way the colors change at different angles.
