The ES-335 with Distinct '60s-Era Character:
Guitarists often have highly specific preferences when it comes to their instruments. Some connect strongly with particular models, while others gravitate toward certain production eras due to differences in finishes, pickup designs, subtle hardware changes (such as pickguards, inlays, and plastics), and evolving neck profiles. Instruments like the Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s and Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s have become popular for exactly this reason, allowing players to choose the feel and features that best match their style. With the same philosophy in mind, Gibson has expanded this approach to fans of the Gibson ES-335 with the the Gibson ES-335 60s.

Watch us demo the ES-335 '50s and '60s models in our exclusive video:

The ES-335 60s captures the defining characteristics of early-1960s ES-335 models. Its semi-hollow, thinline body is constructed from three-ply maple/poplar/maple and paired with a solid maple centerblock that enhances sustain while helping to minimize feedback. Single-ply cream binding along the top and back provides a clean, vintage-inspired visual accent.

True to early '60s examples, the mahogany neck features the SlimTaper profile, offering a sleeker, faster feel than the fuller Rounded C profile found on the ES-335 50s. The bound rosewood fretboard is equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets and small block acrylic inlays, delivering the classic appearance associated with 1960s ES-335 instruments. Grover Rotomatic read more tuners with "milk bottle" buttons work together with the Graph Tech nut to provide excellent tuning stability, while the headstock is adorned with a mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and crown inlay.

At the opposite end of the strings, an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece contribute to impressive sustain while allowing precise adjustment of action and individual intonation.

Electronics consist of a pair of calibrated T-Type humbucker pickups with Alnico 5 magnets, designed to deliver the unmistakable character associated with vintage Gibson T-Top humbucker tones. Each pickup is connected to its own hand-wired 500k volume and tone control, and together with the three-way toggle switch, they provide the wide tonal range that has made the ES-335 a staple for generations of players.

A five-ply '60s-style pickguard and black Top Hat knobs with silver reflector inserts complete the period-inspired look.

Featuring a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, the ES-335 60s includes a Gibson hardshell case. For players who prefer the slimmer neck profile and distinctive styling of early '60s ES-335 models, this instrument delivers the feel, tone, and character that have made these guitars enduring favorites for more than six decades.
