Overview

Ryan "Fluff" Bruce knows what a great pickup should sound like. On YouTube, he is one of the most beloved authorities on guitar gear, with thousands of videos and followers to his credit. In his band Dragged Under, he has the unique perspective of putting that gear to the test in demanding live and studio environments. His gear reviews and deep dives have given him a broad knowledge of all the different types of pickups on the market, and his favorite voices have come from Fishman Fluence.

Now, all three of his favorite Fluence voices are available in the Ryan "Fluff" Bruce Custom series pickup. Fluff starts with Fishman's standard Modern Humbucker Voice 1, but with an optional high-frequency tilt for a darker sound (this voice only). Voice 2 presents Fluff's custom "passive" sound, and Voice 3 offers a true, crystal clear single-coil tone. Combined with a black nickel finish, Fluff's Custom series pickups offer extreme versatility.

I've tried all the fishmans in the Fishman family and my two favorite voices have always been the modern voice and the will Adler voice. The fact that this pickup has both is amazing. The will Adler voice is so nice for that nice massive thrash tone. The active voice is hot, I did not use the freq tilt and i love it gor those modern metalcore tones. Super happy with this and I think I'm getting this pickup for more of my guitars. I mainly play thrash, metalcore, modern metal, some djent, but I definitely lean to those rhythmic bouncy riffs and melodic lines. The only one thing I would add (more of a wish list type thing) is to have a solderless install option from the factory.
