All Jags get the stock bridge upgraded to a mustang bridge or a mastery bridge. Drop in an American vintage RI vibrato unit and upgrade the bridge and you have a lacquer finished jag for half the price of the American version which you would probably have to replace the bridge anyways. The pau ferro fretboard is smooth, solid and looks good. (Fender used to market Pau Ferro as an upgrade over rosewood btw) It already comes with the American vintage pups so nothing to upgrade unless you're really picky. The case is nice. If you're looking for a Jaguar I'd rate it a 10. But for someone who's never played on one I'd rate it at 8 a quality instrument that may or may not be right for you. There are easier guitars to get into stock, Stratocasters or even LTD's for the money. The short scale is either awesome for you or a pita. The controls aren't as hard to figure out as it seams. The bottom 3 switches turn the pickups off and on and one is like a tone shift filter. Which changes the voicing of the pickups. The volume and tone knob work with the bottom 3 switches only. The top switch when up turns on the jazz circuit which is the rear pickup only and 2 wheels control the volume and tone. When this switch is up all the bottom switches and knobs do nothing.

Musical Background:
