What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Rock maple neck Superior strength and bright sound
Violin-grade maple rim Rich, full, round note distinction

The stunning Goodtime banjo embodies Greg Deering's lifelong vision for the Deering Banjo Company -- to make the best sounding, best playing, best looking, and best value U.S.A. made banjo that he possibly could. It is a never ending quest that Deering pursues every single day. So with improved tooling and a higher than normal dose of creativity, we bid farewell to our old friend the Classic Goodtime and welcome with open arms the stunning aesthetic of the Artisan Goodtime Banjos.

The familiar rich dark brown stain, planetary tuning pegs and the addition of 5th string spikes at frets 7, 9, 10 for alternate tunings allows this light weight maple banjo to exceed the features customers wanted and needed. The violin-grade maple rim is made of the same wood used on the professional level Deering models and gives the Goodtime banjo a rich, full, round note distinction.

Light weight enough to travel with, convenient enough to keep by your easy chair at home, the Goodtime Artisan is great for hours of practice with a neck that is both comfortable to play and accurate to fret. This Goodtime banjo is not only beautiful to look at but will bring you hours of musical enjoyment.

So after playing fingerstyle guitar for years i decided i wanted to learn banjo. My Uncle gave me an old Buckbee and i put some nylon strings on it but it needs to be set up better, won't stay in tune etc. I was ready to give up. Then i read about Deering banjo's saw many video's online etc. Plus being a proud veteran i like to buy American when possible. This banjo arrived in one day from zzounds! I literally let it acclimate for 30 minutes and then tuned it up to open G. Wow! Open back banjo projected so well and loud my daughter in her upstairs bedroom with a bose speaker cranking heard it! It not only plays like a dream, stays in tune, sounds amazing but i realized that my practice time with Buckbee wasn't wasted. Right out of the box the craftmanship is superb, the tonality, intonation, looks, i just ordered a Deering gig bag to protect this gem! To pay less than 150 with 5 no interest payments left and have this in my hands in one day i'm still in shock. Ordered it yesterday afternoon and needless to say when Fed Ex pulled into my driveway this morning my wife's job list for me has been on hold. I just hung it on it's string swing and am going to eat something, get some chores done and then back to this banjo. Ordering bib overalls tonight! No bs, here this is money well spent. Oh, 6 year warranty!
