Casio AP-260 Celviano Digital Piano (with Bench)

With 88 hammer-action keys, an elegant cabinet, and Casio's AiR sound source, the Celviano AP-260 delivers the sound and feel of a grand piano -- affordably!

Casio's Celviano AP-260 digital piano marks the entry point into multidimensional AiR sound synthesis, delivering unprecedented natural reproduction of the rich expressive power and resonance of an acoustic piano. With 18 tones and the "Concert Play" function, music making becomes a real experience on this first-class cabinet piano. The elegant design is emphasized by the "Ivory Touch" keyboard with its ebony and ivory finish. A must-have for the ambitious beginner, with a natural playing feel approaching that a grand piano.

Multi-dimensional Morphing AiR Sound Source

The characteristics of CASIO's Multi-dimensional Morphing AiR (Acoustic and Intelligent Resonator) Sound Source reflect thorough attention to detail in expressing the rich, resonating tones inherent to the piano. The capacity of the installed memory has been expanded to achieve a longer sampling duration and enhanced waveform data quality. The temporal changes in tone that create sound you would expect only from a piano, beginning with the initial sound and leading into a beautiful extension until the sound eventually vanishes, are reproduced naturally.

Tri-sensor Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II

The difference between the sound structures of a grand piano and a digital piano appears as a difference in timing, from the moment the instrument is played until the sound is audible. The Tri-sensor Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II responds by incorporating a system with three sensors that detect touches of the read more keys sequentially.

Simulated ebony and ivory keys with optimal fingertip fit for playing ease

The Simulated ebony and ivory keys offers the luxurious feel and texture as well as the smooth touch of a grand piano keyboard. The minutely detailed crimp surface finish inhibits finger slippage due to sweat and gives the sensation of a perfect fingertip fit, even when playing for extended periods.

Damper Resonance -- achieving a more naturally beautiful resonance

The deep, beautiful resonance resulting from the use of a damper pedal is also reproduced naturally by a stereo resonance simulator installed on all 88 keys, an approach that differs from conventional simulated reproduction employing effect processing. The attention to detail goes so far as to simulate the resonance created by the lifting of the dampers themselves when the pedal is pressed.

"Great piano its too bad Zzounds doesn't offer other Celviano models"

The Privia is a great line with lots of options but so is the Celviano. I am not quite sure why Casio came out with both lines other than the idea that Celviano is more like a piece of furniture. The AP 260 has 8w speakers compared to the Privia 780 at 20w speakers. Some reviews claimed that the Celviano doesn't deliver authentic acoustic sound but when played over my monitors the deep bass notes sound like they are hitting strings. The artificial ivory texture on the keys (exclusive to the Celviano) certainly feels fake but the Privia is shamelessly just plastic. I got the Celviano because I like the furniture look of the console and because zZounds made me a deal since I had bad experience with scratch and dent model of another piano. Like always zZounds took care of me and went well beyond expectations. That is why I continue to prefer them over others that use the same warehouse to move goods. You won't be disappointed with this particular piano. The keys are wonderfully weighted. If you have big money you wish to part with go with yamaha. If you are on a budget but want most all the features offered by others charging 3 times the price you can't go wrong with Casio.
