You're not going to read any reviews like mine. I am ancient like the tides of yore. In 1968, I took bass lessons from Carol Kaye. I played in Brit prog band Curved Air alongside Stewart Copeland. I returned to my home in L.A. and opened a recording studio. I became good friends with Hall of Fame drummer Hal Blaine who worked for me countless times. I produced a single called "Whatever Happened to Eddie?" for Butch 'Eddie Munster' Patrick. As well as writing, producing, and directing the music video.I went straight at 35 because the life of a musician is hard. I never told my comrades that I had a structural engineering degree because I was a bona fide Hippie musician and I thought they would think less of me. I know. With a wonderful woman at my side and a baby girl, I played out on the weekends. And now, I'm arthritic and semi-wrinkled like a prune Danish. I play a fretless Ibanez SRH500F Bass Workshop and a Ibanez UB805 Bass Workshop Upright. I have a man cave, and I don't play out any longer because at my age, the roadies are all dead or even more arthritic than me. I bought a Peavey MAX 208 combo, and it works beautifully for the fretless. But it rattles when I play the upright. I needed something compact that would take those 4' long strings. I did my research, and I chose the Boss Katana 210. In 2005, I bought one of the first Line 6 amps with all the wang dang doodle modeling features. I was like a kid in a candy store. But it seems like Fred Flintstone's day at the rock read more quarry compared to the Boss. The modeling features and the effects on the Boss are endless. I bought the Bluetooth add that is hooked up to my iPhone and now I have endless x 10 additions to tones and effects. How does my upright sound? Like cream on a biscuit. Pearls on a necklace. And flowers on a lei. We live in an apartment. I am pleased to announce that the police have been called twice to warn the kid to stop playing that funky music white boy. You should have seen the look on the faces of the cops when they realized it was me. They even made me play to prove that is not my visiting grandkids playing the loud bass. This isn't an Ampeg. This ain't a Marshall. It is a sophisticated high tech (remember I'm 75) bass combo. I love it. Do your research. If you're a computer nerd musician who needs something beyond all reasonable expectations, you need to keep looking. But if your expectations are reasonable, the Boss is a cool choice.
