Pinnacle Microphones Fat Top Ribbon Microphone

zZounds Gear Experts Say...
The original "fat head" mic returns as the Pinnacle Fat Top! This short ribbon's fast response shines on guitar cabinets, drum overheads, rooms, and more.
Overview
The Fat Top is a short ribbon passive microphone that delivers a smooth, warm, rich, fat, rounded tone. Produces a well-rounded sound without the need to EQ out the brittle or sharp highs. This microphone will roll off the high frequencies that will help with perceived warmth. The bi-directional polar pattern picks up sound equally from both faces with a large null between them, ideal for isolating sound sources. It's frequency and sensitivity response deliver pristine audio results. Translates natural analog sound into the digital domain, giving warmth and smoothness to what might be a cold and sterile digital recording. Versatile enough to handle any vocals or instruments in recording and live sound application. Can be used in pairs in a Blumlein set up to pick up the entire room. Best suited for guitar cabinets, piano, brass and percussion instruments.

"Great for Drum Overheads & Guitar Amps"
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
I got two of these to run in stereo on my drum overheads mainly. I ended up really liking how they sound on guitar amps and cabs as well! On overheads it does a great job of taming the harsh cymbal transients so you can easily get a full balanced picture of the drum kit. On guitar amps it does a great job of picking up the natural sound that you're hearing in the room.
