I have owned it for about 6 months. The best support by a manufacturer with a dedicated website and forum for Q and A. Complex and deep architecture that is easy and intuitive once you get your head around it (took me about 3 months of initial frustration) the written manual is a technical manual not an instructional or tutorial (very difficult read) but there is a DVD instructional from Yamaha that is excellent but does not cover all aspects of the synth in the 2 hrs. Lots of sub menues. Small display. Best value with a high degree of expandibility and integration/connectability. Works very well with a computer based setup & comes with softwear (though a bit on the slow side). KIK-ass filters (lots of them). You must give this board a listen to appreciate how good it sounds, hit a few keys, hit a few chords, tweak the real time controllers and BANG!, your into it.

Real time surface controls are great. Sounds are great. Plug-in boards allow you to expand polyphony and add other sound processing features like vocal harmonizers. Sample with note is awesome. I had a Korg Triton 71 key and returned it, buying the Motif 7. It is a superior keyboard all the way around. The painted surface on the Triton is the worst (scrapes off easily), the touch screen controls slow down productivity (they are sluggish, especially as you begin to build sequencer tracks), and there are no knobs to get your hands on a sequence mix down which is frustrating. The Motif has everything a workstation should have and at an affordable price.

The absolute best and most creative sounds I have ever heard and it's not that difficult to learn either. Very real sounding pianos, guitars, strings and if you like warm pads it will amaze you. Creativity is all over the place with this keyboard and it gets easier and easier everyday.

Right when I hooked this keyboard up to my sound system I fell in love with it! Sounds are great, I recomend getting the ram upgrade kit if you in to sampling synth. The Arpeggio makes playing fun. The internal recorder beats recording off an external sound card on a PC, clean audio.

I have own a roland Xp50 fully expanded with
60&70 card, Dance card, Hiphop, Experiance2.
I had my synth stolen out of my church and was
going to purchase an Xp60. The Motif 6 was there and i played it. The xp60 was history.
For the money you get more, bigger sounding
than roland, more vintage sounding, no need
for expansion cards as far as sounds are concerned. Why get a copy when you can get the best sounding Fender rhodes, Honner claves,
Basses, Guitars all in one board. Is suited for
those who love jazz fusion, Gosple music, old
school funk, Earth wind, Ohio players, Average
white band. This your board if you like that sound. "PERIOD"
