I bought this amp last night. Somebody once told me "If you are going to swollow the elephant don't worry about the tail". What I mean by this is Spend the extra for the blue speakers. I did a side by side and even new they sound much warmer than the greenbacks. I bought the Amp because of "The Edge" "U2" and trying to nail his tone. Even though the ones he uses were made in the mid "60's" this new one still gets the tone pretty close. With the help of a digital delay and some other tools of the trade. After I got it home I thought that even people who do not play should own one just because it looks so COOL!!!. Bottom Line this thing has the ability to tear your head off or whisper clean glass tones. From what I am told they just get better with age. My only fear is reliability. Being a class "A" there is some concern. I also own a Marshall JCM 900 and a RI '59 Bassman. I hope that the Vox will round out my quest for the perfect tone. However, as we all know it never ends.

Tone for days, there is not a bad sound in it. I play Tom Anderson Guitars, and this amp with these guitars is a match made in heaven. Played Marshall for years, got tired of fixing them. Used Rivera for awhile, but AC30 with vintage blues blows it away. When I asked other band memders what they thought reply was unified, "Why mess with perfection?" That sums it up well. Perfection!

I HAVE OWENED FENDER,HIWATT,MARSHALL,MESA BOGGIE,SUN,AND NOTHING I HAVE EVER OWENED OR PLAYED SOUNDS AS WONDERFUL AS THIS AMP.YES IT IS PRICEY BUT WELL WORTH THE MONEY.IF YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN THIS IS THE AMP TO BUY
WHICH YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW.AFTER ALL THE GREATEST ROCK AND ROLL BAND OF ALL TIME "THE BEATLES" PLAYED THESE BABIES NEED I SAY MORE.

This amp can't be beat for a pure sound. It brings the best out of your playing, responding to every nuance in your playing.

If you are looking for a rhythm sound the amp cuts and is very articulate. If you are looking for a lead sound. Nothing beats an AC 30's distortion. It is much sweeter than marshall or fender distortion (listen to Brian May). You may want to invest in an attenuator if you are cranking the amp to achieve amp distortion, unless you are playing arenas and have very tolerant neighbors.
I have played marshall, fender, and line 6 amps nothing has let me put a voice to what I hear in my head like the Vox AC 30 with alnico blue speakers.

If you buy one you won't be disappointed.
