I've sat in various guitar shops playing Martins, Taylors, Gibby's, and whatever else I could find. With my eyes closed, this guitar sounds as nice and rich as ANY! They all have their nuances, but quality-wise, I haven't played any that I liked better. There is a huge personal preference factor with guitars as I'm sure you all are aware, but if were able to swap straight up, I honestly don't think I would.

I had a D28 Martin that I had foolishly sold,I bought a Gibson that sucked ,so I sold that and got a Tacoma DR12.This guitar is as damn close to a D28 as you can get and it costs alot less. The abalone around the soundhole is awesome, and you get a bound fingerboard. The guitar kicks ass for the money ,you can`t beat it or even come close for that matter.

Tacoma is one of the underated companies. Professional and top notch equipment.
This was my first Tacoma and then I bought a JK50CE4. Both are excellent.

Tacoma's quality is up there with Martin (bold to say, I know) but they just don't advertise as much.

Definitely a great purchase.

This is the one of the best deals out there in solid body acoustics, as far as I'm concerned. I love my DR12 and everyone who plays it thinks it is a tremendous value for the price.
It is just a very solid guitar, with no real bells or whistles, save for the beautiful abalone inlay around the sound hole. The action is a little high, in my opinion, but should be adjustable down to my liking.
My only real complaint is with the case. It is sad that Tacoma mated such a high quality guitar with such a shoddy case. After only several years of use, every hinge on the case is loose, and many of the rubber "feet" have come off. Also, due to the oddly shaped head, you are kind of stuck buying a Tacoma brand hard case. Other than the case, I am extremely satisfied with my DR1.

When I wanted to upgrade from my old crappy acoustic to a new one, I played probably 100 guitars in 3 different shops. But the Tacoma just clearly had the best sound. The sales dudes kept throwing guitars at me that were shinier or more polished, but the Tacoma beat them all with its crisp resonating sound. Yeah and I got it for a lot less than this site advertises...ahem.
