Feature:
When I first got this guitar, they left out the Fender guitar method book and the tuner didn't work right(would turn on but not off), but all that was fixed with one email and they shipped it out right away with 2 day shipping. If you're reading this, you know what the pak includes...all work great and I love the whammy bar. The guitar doesn't hold in tune very well when you're using it, but it's easy to tune and unless you going to a big gig where you play for a while before getting to a tuner, I don't think it's a problem. The selector switch and knobs work fine, so nothing there. I like the amp, it's small and has fuzzy distortion, but it's got good volume and great quality. Perfect for home or small gig use. I wish the amp had some effects though, like wah and reverb, etc. It does have a drive channel but that's about it. Not much to play with but great for practicing.
Quality:
The pickguard is bubbly and the finish is relatively easy to knick, but I've banged it against the wall a few times and hit it with the whammy bar and it's only got 2 tiny, minor dings. Besides, mine is white(or cream) and it shows up easier. The quality is good otherwise, although the fret board does look kinda fake. Very minor, again, but I'm picky. It fits great, no loose parts or anything. I would never keep a backup on this thing, it's just very reliable and hardy. I would say the guitar should last for many years. The gig bag is kind of cheap though. You'll want to get a new one soon if you carry yours around a lot. The amp is hardy like I said and even when you buy another one, which you probably will in time, it's still keepable and worth playing.
Value:
Very worth the price. The best stat pak out there
Desirability:
I would have gotten this even if I didn't need it for my music. There are tons of other good guitars out there and I chose this one. As a musician, doesn't that speak for itself?
Sound:
Well, let me start off by saying that I love the sound of this guitar. If you're looking to buy this as a beginner, I would absolutely suggest it as the best thing out there for this price. But if you are more experienced, I would say you might be disapointed with the guitar itself, unless you change pickups and strings and the pickguard and give it a good setup right away. I had to raise two strings because of fret buzz...which is going to happen anyway with mass produced guitars due to uneven frets. So give that some thought, because it may be practical to get your frets sanded depending on if your particular guitar has that problem. But as I said, for a beginner, or great players too, this guitar rocks! It's got that great Fender sound it's totally worth buying to learn on or to just buy for the fun of it...to give you something to tweak with or just play it out of the box, because it's just a really great guitar. Maybe not the best guitar out there, but the quality is amazing for the price.
Support:
I've never needed any repairs. I dealt with zzounds when I had to request a replacement for the book and they sent me extra strings, tuner, picks, etc and that fixed my tuner prob. They were friendly and quick, and eager to make sure my needs were met. But that's zzounds and not Squier/Fender.
Overall:
Everything in this review should be all you need to know before buying. I will upgrade amps soon, but that's just because of the lack of effects/ size and volume. Very good guitar.
