Feature:
The large heavy duty wheels are awesome and excellent quality. The mounting screws are a little short. I think it would be better if they extended further into the mounting threaded holes.
The front removable cover is nice and sturdy. It does not allow much space between the rack mount rails and the front of cover. I had to remove the handles from my amps so the front lid could close. Not too big of a deal.
The side handles are nice but I don't think I could use them to actually lift the entire rack loaded with equipment. Being that it has a lifetime warranty, maybe I'll give this a try one day.
Ease of Use:
Nothing much to report here. You mount your equipment and roll it around. Plain and simple. Again, the wheels are large and heavy duty.
Quality:
Overall, the quality is good however, there were some sharp edges that needed to be sanded slightly. My friend's pants got snaged on one of these edges and got damaged. Everything else is great.
Value:
The rolling rack is great, and with the lifetime warranty it should literally last a lifetime. This is the base for the Gig Rig or Mini Gig Rig, so you are locked into purchasing one of these other units if you want to complete the set.
Manufacturer Support:
Unfortunately, I lost the rear cover to this unit the first time I used it. I have called support twice but only have the option of leaving a message or sending an email. I've tried both but have yet to hear any response. It's only been a week but I think that would be enough time for someone to reply to my email.
The Wow Factor:
It's just a big box with 6 RU spaces. Great wheels. That's it. I guess it looks kind of cool. It should look considerably better and be more functional with the Gig Rig or Mini Gig Rig attached. I just needed a way to wheel three amps around so they wouldn't get beat up.
Overall:
I expect this rolling rack will last me a long, long time. It is sturdy and with the lifetime warranty, if it breaks, they will repair or replace it. I will most likey pick up the Mini Gig Rig (the Gig Rig is too much money for the additional 4RU spaces).
SKB has a sound reputation for quality. In the past their products have done well with me. I do wish it had rear rack mounts though. This would allow the amps to be mounted most securely. Unfortunately, the rear access panel is too, too small. It is barely large enough to make connections comfortably. I hope my amps do not overheat.
