I admittedly was at first skeptical as it was solid state. But after reading several reviews and not finding a single bad one, and knowing Quilter's reputation, I decided to try it. Not disappointed! It sounds so much like tube to me on channel 2 and channel one is clean and does to me sound like a Fender blackface. And....the size and weight of it are just unreal. Plenty of power for any venue. Takes pedals and preamps wonderfully.

I find that this Solid State wonder is up to any job I throw at it. Tone is VERY Fender-like. The main difference is it responds much quicker and has a greater dynamic range. This takes getting used to as your technique becomes a greater component to how the amp works and sounds, The overdrive channel is nice, like an old Maestro Fuzz but totally controllable. The clean channel is more open and with the right speaker and cab can sound a LOT like a nice silver or blackface Twin or Deluxe...the advantage only 9 lbs. and no funny tube fail issues. You may miss the sag of tubes but the power and snap of the Aviator is an acceptable trade off. Plus you get your sound at any volume, no more cranking up louder than your band just to get some good tone. Sounds the same anywhere you play and whatever volume you play at. Speaker choice makes a huge difference! Right now I'm using a Tone Tubby Ceramic in an Evans enclosure. So close to my old Twin Reverb!
