The poplar sounds to me to be similar to birch more so than maple,a dry sound.

Like DW and other PDP's features are great

with top of the line heads it's easy to get good sounds with these drums.Don't buy cheap heads.

for the money I rate these drums a 10.Factory quality control was very good on my Kit,finish and fit good,a real beauty.The reviewer who said these drums are crap is 1.out of his mind or just bashing the PDP Brand. Pay no mind that review it is a joke and anything less than an 8 for the X7 Kit is a bad joke. BTW, I have seen the same review from that same reviewer who said "you can't make love to a drum set" for other PDP reviews not just the X7 Kit,his stocker review of PDP drums. This person is bashing the entire product line of PDP. Come on Dude,we are not stupid and we read all the reviews on the web.

Short answer,Best deal going in this price range for what you get,I give them a 10.

Tis product sounds soooooo good. It's crazy. You just have to tune it good. Which is very easy. It is obviously a pro kit. And it is amazing.

Well it came with all the clamps and screws, but I don't know how to put on the rack tom. It needs instructions or something. But other than that it came with everything it said, and extra screws.

Its easy to put together, and to use. But for beginners, you might not know how to put the bass together and stuff.

The heads are very good. And the drums themselves are obviously kick ass.

These drums sound great and have smooth, warm tones. With sizes from 8 to 16 inches, you get a full spectrum of tones for any type or style of drumming.

There are only two things that could have made this kit better: First, die cast rims... but theat would jack up the price. Second: a virgin kick drum shell... but I know some drummers like the tome mount, so I can't really dock the score for that. The lugs are kind of big, but the style works for the kit.

They're drums... so there's nothing to plug in... so how could it be any easier?

For a kit in this price range, it's absolutely top quality. If you're looking for a versatile kit with 5 toms (that's a lot!), you can't find one this nice for this price other than the X7.

This set is the most amazing peice of artwork i have ever played. I got them about a year ago, and was completely amazed by how great they sound. I play metal/metalcore, all that kind of stuff. The bass drum supports well, the toms are so easy to tune, and they snare is like a rocket of sound. They sound great live when its 120 degrees under the lights, in my garage practicing in 10 degree weather and in the studio. After you've found the tuning you like for the drums, they stay in tune of a good while before you need to tune again. Great sound.

The mounting hardware has done nothing wrong to me, the mounts haven't moved since i first set them up. No complaints here.

The F.A.S.T toms make it so easy to sound good. Not to mention the amazing arangment the wood. Set up, spend maybe an hour and a half tuning, and you're golden.

I can't blame this set for my constant fear of my bass drum rim breaking, but i was shipped one before with a broken front rim, so i'm always worried about that and always keep a spare. But so far nothing has broken on this set, and its still playing great. I gig as far as 13 hours from home, and it makes the trip perfectly fine.

I've played on everything from 300 dollar started ludwig sets to 10000 dollar dw sets. This set is very comparable to the dw sets i've played on, and for only 900 bucks. Its like stealing candy from a baby

It doesn't matter if your playing on a huge stage for 10000 people or a small gig with 30. This set steals the stage. I have the red fade sparkle, and it just looks pro. You can tell its great just by looking at it. [yeah i'd bang it ;)]

Great sound once you put some godd heads on it. Evans Onyx batter and EC Resos really brought this kit to life. Except for the snare which i couldnt stand everything else sounds great.

Came with everything needed to set up, I even ordered an extra bass drum and stm mount to convert the 14 inch floor tom to a rack tom. I only wished they mad an 18 inch floor tom to add on.

Tuning was a little more labor intensive than a higher end kit would be but after you figure it out youve gat a kit that looks and sounds pro quality at a fraction of the price

Mucho sex appeal, very good looking finish and hardware, with the black on black paint and hardware combined with the evans onyx heads I get complements from every drummer that sees it at the metal shows I play.

Sound is amazing, I'm sure there are better sounding kits out there, but not for the price.

Comes with very well designed hardware and it will last a long while. Only problem is when you take heads of the toms, the hardware gets in the way of some of the nuts, but with some strength you can by pass that problem.

Its a drum set, of course its easy to use :D

For this price, this is the best set and quality you can get. When you are a drummer who wants to upgrade to a 7 piece kit, but don't want to spend $1500, this is a great move.

It has a great deep,smooth but powerful tone, the bass drum is awesome!

every thing is great but the heads. I dont play super hard and I had 3 heads bust on me within the first month or two i got them. my guess it was because they were made in china.

Its great, they look awesome and sound great. I have had mine for a little over a year now and the only problem I had was all of my skins started breaking but other than that, no problems.
