the jog wheels could've been better for the effect options (scratching) but there great as is

had this one sence 2003 and it hasnt failed me... lost a cable tho so im asking numark to send me one =[

if your into doing gigs and just mixing these are amazing.. but if you want to do scratching go for some real turntables

Desirability:
this thing is a party dj's wet dream

Sound:
this is probibly one of the better sounding products out there as far as cd players go.... everything is on point it doesnt sound right then your mixer is whack.

Ease of Use:
learning curve is a little out there but once you know it its like riding a bike

im dealing with numark now for a replacement cable to connect the remote to the deck... but it was easy to file all my info with them online

Overall:
first things i learned on and im still using them i dont think i could ever part with these babies no matter what else i get

I must say that when I went out looking for a quality cd player one of the last names I thought about (other the Gemini and American DJ) was Numark.. Just like the other Numark has made a name for itself as being cheap quality with features.. It wasnt something I was willing to buy. So I looked into the Denin 2600F and the 2100F (both cheaper then the Numark CD 88 here in sweden) and I liked them both a lot, but they where not quite what I was looking for. So I went to the Pioneer dual cd player.. nice, lot of features, and certainly looked the best.. but then I ran into this machine.. the CD 88, a DJ friend of mine had a gig the same night as me and showed me his numark. I fell in love instantly! this machine has everything that a Pro could possible want on a CD Player! It is built for speed and usability.. and it does both to perfection! I am able to get some near perfect mixes with the help of the beat mixer, the scratch function is near perfect, and all the features and features that a real DJ would use! it has really been a great addition to my shows... (though still a bit worried about name brand) but who cares, if it breaks I have a very long warranty on it :)

Numark has had a track record of making some very good and some very very bad products. Fortunately, the CDN-88 is probably the best product they have yet to make. Its turntable simulation really does sound like turntables, its effects are awesome, and its got sooooo many neat features! I don't have time to list everything this baby does, but its a darn cool cd deck. It is a bit expensive, but man, after you use this thing for a little bit, you never want to stop! I was able to use it and master many of its features right out of the box, but a quick glance over the instruction booklet was neccesary to optimize my abilities on it. Overall, if you can afford it, it's a great deck, and probably feature-wise the best one you can own.

Sound:
have to say that when my denon cd player started to fail,i went out shoping for a new player, never: thought i by numark,had a demo in store,"loved the cdn88 fetures and how easy was to use. i took one home, use for a year, went and bought cnd90 loved the added feture of the dc drag, then bought cdn95 found it to be just like the cdn90,din't like the mp3 feture,over all, i'll stick to cdn88 or cdn90.

These controllers are pretty top notch when it comes to effects. I bought them specifically just for that. (slide, chop, Phaze, kill, etc). Awesome, just awesome, like no other.

But when it comes to loop sampling though I'd have to say that, if you're a sample DJ, that's where the CDN-88's loose a point on it's feature ratings.
Although these babies provide the DOUBLE LOOPING and the 3-STUTTER's on each controller etc, it does not have the MEMO BANKS so one can set and save CUE's and LOOPS+PITCH.

Unlike it's competitor DENON, there own models the 2500 and the 2600 both come with this feature which allowed to store up to 300 presets so that when you loaded your cd the controller would read and set the preset for that perticular cd. No more mastering the technique of loading cd's quickly.

But to end on a good note, it all really depends on how DJ's like to play. I say, for the effects the CDN-88's get an overall 4 out of 5.

The ease of features is the number one attribute of the unit. I love the excellent looping features and possible 5 hot starts on each player. An all around great investment.

something i thought of is the jog wheel should be like the cx1 a mini disc so it could work like a cx1 but have everything the same that is something i thought about but even thou i use many models and different makes cdn88 is far the most better model to use in my eyes.

Quality:
the one i owned has been used for at least 2+ yrs and had nothing go wrong yet it hass been on my mind if it something was to go wrong cause i dont have a back up and if i did really cant afford it cause the money i make now pays bills and family support.

I never judge a book by the cover its whats inside that counts and CDN88 makes me feel sexy and in a world of my own

Sound:
The sounds quality has been the best so far i only been a Dj in clubs for about 18months and before an 88 ive been using a different make and model. ive owned an 88 for about 9months and honestly ive had a great result in sound and mixing i use CM200 mixer and CDN88 player using this model you could mix any music and you get a primo result. I used a CDN90 but i think the 88 is alot better to use 90 is almost the same as an 88 but i feel alot comfortable with an 88 i tried many models of numark but i love the 88

Support:
Never bought the product through a dealler bought it off a friend that bought a CX1 and i paid him off in a weekly payment

Overall:
Yeah i would like to try something new and improved. but i feel comfortable with an 88 if a had a new product that i owned i could have time to use it and train on using it

It ALways reads the correct bpm [R&B,trance etc]
You can be a pro dj in weeks ![trust me on this one].

This cd mixer was one of my best incounters ever since I started mixing 5 months ago. A friend of mine let me borrow it for one week and I fell in love with it. To me it's the best on the market, and it's easy to handle, easy to learn and pro dj.
