These controllers are pretty top notch when it comes to effects. I bought them specifically just for that. (slide, chop, Phaze, kill, etc). Awesome, just awesome, like no other.
But when it comes to loop sampling though I'd have to say that, if you're a sample DJ, that's where the CDN-88's loose a point on it's feature ratings.
Although these babies provide the DOUBLE LOOPING and the 3-STUTTER's on each controller etc, it does not have the MEMO BANKS so one can set and save CUE's and LOOPS+PITCH.
Unlike it's competitor DENON, there own models the 2500 and the 2600 both come with this feature which allowed to store up to 300 presets so that when you loaded your cd the controller would read and set the preset for that perticular cd. No more mastering the technique of loading cd's quickly.
But to end on a good note, it all really depends on how DJ's like to play. I say, for the effects the CDN-88's get an overall 4 out of 5.
