"Sweet Marshall Sounds."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

I am sold. I have been using Marshall for quite some time and have switched to using other amps and always found myself coming back home to Marshall. I will have this amp for quite a while and I may eventually retire it and upgrade to a higher end (full tube) Marshall, but until then, I am content with what I have.
Sound
The sound that comes from this head unit is very satisfying and bold. I upgraded from a Randall RG75D G3 75watt combo and this things blows it away. The amp is loud and produces tight crisp tone. The fx are superior to anything i've used; however, the amps lack a little when it comes to low end sound, which is the one thing that my Randall had over this amp. For a mid-range half stack, this is definitely worth the money.
Features
This product came with a footswitch that I have yet to use as I am still dialing in my sound. The most useful features are the acoustic simulator and the digital fx. The gated reverb (although not as good as spring reverb) and the chorus are excellent. The acoustic simulation isn't going to magically change music to sound like a taylor or martin acoustic, but it produces a pretty accurate facsimile. The contour or scoop buttons on each channel definitely change tones and are a nice feature if this is something a person will use regularly.
Ease of Use
I have been able to achieve some great harmonics with this amp. The interface is pretty self explanatory and simple to use for someone with a little experience. It took me a couple hours to get the sound I was looking for, but I constantly change my sound so I am continually tinkering around with the controls to get what I am looking for.
Quality
This is a very solid unit and I would buy again. I haven't had any problems with this amp and don't foresee any in the future. I gave this amp a 9 because I would recommend upgrading to a higher end cab as opposed to the AVT cab.
Value
I don't know if the amp is worth the sticker price for not being a true tube amp as one could purchase an Orange combo or Tiny Terror for the same price and get a better and louder sound. However, for the quality that Marshall produces, it is worth the purchase price for those looking for something reliable and that will last you a lifetime.
Manufacturer Support
Marshall receives a ten because I have never had to use their support.
The Wow Factor
For me, I rate the appeal of this amp a 10 because it's all I could afford when shooting for a quality half stack. Granted it's not a JCM or Vintage Modern, but this thing screams Marshall and has that look at me quality.

"Lots of tone control and power!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
You need this amp more than you know! I stand behind it 100 percent!
Sound
It has really nice tone, lots of volume to that you will be blown away by. Gets louder than you will need! Nice to have all that power just in case you need it. I have used it for recording and I am still very impressed. I could get any sound I wanted out of it. I own a Marshall 800 and I use these two together all the time.
Features
Comes with 16, ya 16 high quality effects. You have a lot of tone control on every channel.
Ease of Use
plugged in and was ready to go. I stopped and adjusted and it sounded like a completely different amp. It was amazing!
Quality
I bought it because a friend recommended it, so I tried his and was amazed. He has had his for 4 years and had no problems at all. he does about 20 gigs a year all over the place and it has held up no problem.
Value
Marshall tone for a reasonable price.
Manufacturer Support
haven't had to do it yet, not worried about it anytime soon! very reliable!
The Wow Factor
It is black, beautiful and sleek.

"This AVT 150 has the stuff I've come to expect out of the Marshalls' I've used for the past 30 years. It works well with my '56"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

So far so good. I've used it for a year with a new band. We are gearing up and I think this AVT will take me where I want to go.
Sound
I have used this amp for the past year. The use has included some recording and live medium size club shows. I don't use the foot switch. The on board switches are a bit sticky and don't always switch, but since I noticed that I don't have much trouble with them. I have used several marshall amps over the years, including all tube amps and a rare 8, 10 inch speaker cabinet. This avt 150 can get sounds close to the early "classic" Marshalls I've used, without the problem of having to play too loud, to get a good tone. The four channels all have value and the effects are a great plus. I recently had a JCM 900 and an MG 30 and 50. This AVT is more useful than any Marshall I have used previously, without nonsense like plugging channels together or gates. I play with precious in tone and dynamics, but also move around the stage. I don't like to have to have a bunch of junk pedals and switches on the floor to trip over. This AVT 150 allows me the freedom flexibilty and balls to rock without adding anything to it. It is all I need all by itself.
Features
The foot switch works well and is easy to use, but I get by fine without it. The channels and effects are straight forward and easy to use.
Ease of Use
When I first looked at it I thought it might but hard and/or complicated to learn how to use. Fortunately I was wrong and was using it with ease the second time I used it.
Quality
The quality is good. I'm not sure about the durability of some of the switches yet. But I have had good luck with similar Marshall products in the past.
Value
This is in my view inexpensive compared to some less usable, but more in demand Marshall products.
Manufacturer Support
The support is provided well. I havn't had to ask for help, yet.
The Wow Factor
What can I say. I've used a lot of marshalls. I've used lots and lots of Marshalls. I'm married now and only use one. It looks good with me and my 1956 Stratocaster. I like where I've been and where I am. There is everything I need to get to other places I may still want to go. I ain't no Frank Sinatra. I still might use that sex appeal that this Marshall adds.

"Rockin Head for a great price!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
This amps sounds fantastic right out of the box. With a few adjustments to the knobs I was able to get a nice clean channel, and light crunch and an ungodly metal sound from OD2. The acoustic channel is a nice touch as well, although it won't fool anybody...it does give the clean a nice twang.
Features
The amp is pretty straight forward and easy to use. Just plug it in and jam. It would have been nice to have some switching of the effects as well
Ease of Use
Simple.
Quality
Some of the buttons on mine are a little slow to release when I switch channels on the head itself. I used the pedal 99% of the the time so not a huge issue. Haven't had any other problems.
Value
I got a fantastic deal at $580 for this badboy and it is worth every penny!
Manufacturer Support
?? No Idea...haven't needed them yet
The Wow Factor
Good to own in the growing collection of amplifiers..

"AVT = Absolutely Vociferously Terrible."

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This baby was OUT the door! I've got modelling amp's at the same, or lesser cost, that blow this silly excuse for an amp AWAY. AVT = Absolutely Vociferously Terrible. Nuf' Said.
Sound
(Used to own combo version.) This is Head version of the same crappy combo, that Marshall stopped production of. ONE usable channel - Clean. everything else is sub-par, at best. Absolutely LOUSY distortion .... thin, brittle, buzzy noise. (You can surely get LOUD with this amp .... but loud doesn't = GOOD.) Total waste of circuitry! Your hard-earned $'s are DEFINITELY better-spent somewhere else.
Features
Alot of dials to cover up a total lack of quality sound.
Ease of Use
An "8", only because the amp IS "easy". Ease-of-use doesn't = GOOD.
Quality
How to define "quality" ? The combo was heavy; this head seems strong. My version of "quality" is more in keeping with quality of sound .... which this thing is basically devoid of (other than the Clean channel.)
Value
"Value" .... NOT.
