"The last amp I'll ever need"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I have the Vetta II with the FBV floorboard and a Varix model 700 guitar. This is the amp/pedalboard/guitar package I've been wanting since I first starting playing guitar. With a single click of a footswitch I can go from playing a Strat through 2 Fender twins with 212 cabs, a vibrotone and autowah to a Les Paul through a Marshall JCM 900 and a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier with 412 cabs running an analog chorus to the Marshall amp model and a digital reverb to the Boogie. I think this could quite possibly be the last amp I'll ever need. I would only consider replacing the Vetta II if it were damaged beyond repair but I'd probably just buy another Vetta II unless Line 6 comes out with a new amp that greatly improves upon the Vetta II (Vetta III perhaps).
Sound
This amp sounds great! I play several genres of music and the Vetta II is able to give me what I need for each one. From squeaky clean to massive hi-gain distortion and all points in between. I think I could have used a bit more bottom end on a couple of the models but this was easily overcome with a little eq tweaking.
Features
The most useful feature for me is the ability to use 2 amp models at once. All of my patches take advantage of this feature. The Vetta II does not come with any accessories persay, but then again, it doesn't really need them. Everything I needed was built in. I had an arsenal of foot pedals with my old rig but with the Vetta II I don't any of them. In fact most of the pedals I used where part of the modeled stomp boxes.
Quality
I use the Vetta II for rehearsing as well as live and so far I've had no problems live but I have experienced the sound shutting off once during rehearsal.
Value
The Vetta II is well worth the price of admission if flexability is what you're looking for.
Manufacturer Support
The Line 6 support is very good, I always get an answer to my questions within a couple hours.
The Wow Factor
From the front, the Vetta II combo looks very unassuming with it's black cover and Line 6 name plate. Looking down at the top, the silver knobs and backlit LCD screens look very cool.

"Great amp if you can't get the sound you want or need you can't play guitar."

Have it for over a year. Great amp. Wish it had a USB connection instead of midi to usb.
Sound
I have them all and this is the most easily accessed and used amp in my collection.
Features
Everything you could need. If you require more than what comes under the hood of this thing you can't play guitar.
Ease of Use
Simple, fast to learn. If you can't master this amp give up and pick up your shovel and go back to work.
Quality
As good if not better than any other production product available. Other than my Boogies as good as any other.
Value
Cheeper than many! More than some. Worth it.
Manufacturer Support
I Broke it --- They fixed it free!! Including shipping both ways.
The Wow Factor
Looks fine-- I don't look at amps, I play them. I don't plan on sleeping with it so the looks are secondary to the sound!

This thing works great for now, but once I get famous I will try out some other stuff but still maybe I will be stuck with Vetta for life, which isnt a bad thing at all.
Sound
This amp sounds great. Don't expect the chunk of a mesa but besides that everything else sounds great.
Features
Effects that I had never even known existed are on this thing. So many options you can literally like they say make your own tone.
Ease of Use
Takes some tweaking but its not ridiculous.
Quality
Has been lugged around quite a bit and still stands strong. No worries.
Value
Definite buy if you are looking for something with everything built in and all kinds of effects to play with. Killer Amp.
Manufacturer Support
No experience with this but ill give them a 10 anyways.
The Wow Factor

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

This is the best amp ever trust me. Some people dont care about amp models and effects but I do. You wont need a tuner no pedal. nothing. This has it all and I love this amp.
Sound
I'am a line 6 fan and I play this amp at my friends house and it is the best amps I've ever played The sound is so awsome You can get tones from the songs!!
Features
148 total amp models and a total of 110 effects (wah, delay, reverb, sounds, echo) This has a tuner which really helps me. (its better then a korg tuner) This thing is like a pedal. This is the amp i'm going to use for my band and For the garage. This things like 150 watts and get to 500 watt max.
Ease of Use
It is pretty simple I figured that out in 5 minutes.
Quality
That thing is built like a tank. Dont listen to all this stupid people who say marshall amps are the best. Get this.
Value
I think it is a good value.

"A great amp"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
A great amp that gets better all the time. With 73 amp models and 2 amps at once that's 5,329 possibilities, and that's before running up to 3 of the dozens of stomp boxes, not to mention the 16 different reverbs, 14 delays, 21 modulation effects, 2 tremolos, noise gate, compressor and so on and so forth. At 150 watts this thing can fill any venue most of us will ever play, and it's a lot lighter than carrying a fleet of amps with you. Plug the amp into the wall, the guitar into your amp and you're all set up.
Sound
This is a very VERY subjective topic. Some of the models are very close, some of the models leave a lot to be desired. For instance the AC30 model is not far off at all, but the Bogner Uberschall model doesn't really capture the feel of the real thing. That said, all of the amp models are very useable. Whether they sound like the amp or not, they all sound great. Also, two amp models running simultaneously can create a wall of sound and make your solos sound so full that you'll never know how you played without it. Oh, and the amp sounds different at other volumes because of something called the Fletcher/Munson Curve. It's how our ears percieve sound, and all amps do it, including every tube amp ever made. Most tube amps have to be cranked to 10 to reach that sweetspot, and the Vetta is not much different.
Features
This amp is completely loaded with features. 73 amp models, dozens and dozens of stomp box models, tons of cabinet simulations, 2 amp models at once, upload and download presets to and from other users and too many others to list. The best feature though... The amp is updatable. Line 6 is constantly revising the amp models and updating them for FREE! New features are added and old ones improved. I'd like to see you update your Marshall from your own livingroom without voiding your waranty.
Quality
Hmmm... This is the Vetta's Aichillies Heel. While I have never had a problem with mine, and know dozens of owners who have never had problems, there are some horror stories about a Vetta just dying during the middle of a solo. The Vetta is a half amp / half computer, and as such it is more fragile than most regular amps. That said, Line 6 is very good about taking care of their customers, and always does their best to fix your broken stuff. I just wish they were more durable.
Value
Take one look at the price of a Soldano SLO-100 or a Cornford MK50 H and you'll understand why the value is a 10. I daresay the value here is actually off the scale altogether. There's probably half a million dollars worth of gear modeled here, but there are some trade-offs for that.
Manufacturer Support
Line 6 has great support, not to mention the massive community that has formed. The manual of the Vetta is actually FUN to read. The writting never gets dry or boring and you can get a lot of great tips and stories from it. Download the manual from Line 6 and you'll see what I mean.
The Wow Factor
I wanted it, now I have it. Best gear purchase I have ever made. If anything happened to it I would sell my car to replace it.

"Vetta II 212 didn't live up to my expectations."

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
ZZounds is great. I've purchased from them in the past and would gladly do so again in the future! Quick delivery and had the products I was looking for. Keep up the good work ZZounds! As for the amp, I went looking for a great clean amp sound thinking this might be the one I was looking for based on all the other reviews I read. I already own a Marshall Valvestate that I love but I want a second amp that provides better clean tones than my Marshall can provide. I'm definitely much more interested in a All Tube amp after playing around with this amp in the store. I'm sure Line6 is a great company but I think for the quality of the tone this amp should be half the price that it is. Sorry everyone, I just can't see spending so much for this amp when the sound it produces can be had for a lot less with a good pedalboard and cheaper amp.
Sound
I tried this amp in a local retail store. This amp definitely has a lot of settings unfortunately for me it lacked the tonal quality of a really good tube amp which can be had for a lot less money. To me this amp gave tons of different crunch or scratch variations but the scratch tone was present in every preset. I did not try every possible combination but I did expect more from this amp than it delivered.
Features
It's got tons of settings and songs like Sweat Child of Mine sounded somewhat realistic but not on target completely. It was relatively easy to get a sound similar to popular artists but I feel using a GNX4 with a good tube amp is a better choice and probably has even more amp modeling choices.
Ease of Use
Turn switches and check it out. Fairly easy to use.
Quality
For an amp in this price range I was very disappointed. To me Quality also means quality of tone and this didn't get if for me. I think it's probably built solid but I don't have personal experience owning it either.
Value
To me most Line6 amps all sounded basically the same. If you want tons of settings and amp modelling in one box with okay results this might be a good choice for you.
Manufacturer Support
Unknown, I never dealt with Line6 before.
The Wow Factor
I tried one with the full intention of checking out all the hipe and possibly purchasing it. Sorry folks, my search goes on and I dropped this puppy from my want it list.

"JUNK!!!"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Crap, crap, crap. This amp is garbage, plain and simple. Do not buy one. Sure, it has 50 differnet effect and 20 different amp models... BUT THEY ALL SOUND LIKE GARBAGE.
Features
Once again, why buy one amp that sound ike 50 crappy amps? It's ridiclous. There must not be a sinlge real guitar player at Line 6, or they'd have to put a stop to this ridiclous behavior.
Ease of Use
You have 5 million adjustments, all to be made with 16 knobs. No... Doesn't sound complicated at all... That's called sarcasm kids.
Quality
Junk, plastic and computer.
Value
Absolutely not.
Manufacturer Support
Don't know, or care.
The Wow Factor
This amp is garbage. Selling or buying it should be a crime against real guitar music.

"Not just an amp but the most versatile guitar tone tool in the world."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Why would I search for another product? The existence of other products on the market are not going to alter the sound of the Vetta II. Quite honestly, I can't see the need for any other amp or effect, ever.
Sound
This amp is very ballsy. It is the loudest combo I've experienced in 32 years of playing. The Vetta II very faithfully reproduces the tones of the amps and effects that it models. Quite simply, because it FAITHFULLY produces those tones the sound quality is perfect!
Features
As the owner of a Variax guitar having the VDI cable included with the amp was a very nice touch. This amp is very well put together and looks great.
Ease of Use
If you know what you're doing you will get awesome sounds out of the Vetta II in a matter of minutes. Having experience with the PODxt Live enabled me to immediately get great sounds from the Vetta II. Anyone who criticises the sound of the Vetta II would only do so because they just don't know how to use it. I have read complaints from some people that are completely irrational. Anyone who complains about the sound quality clearly doesn't understand how to use it.
Quality
Finish and fit are perfect. This is a great looking amp.
Value
This is a "no brainer". Just add up how much it would cost to have 2 of every amp and effect that the Vetta II produces using its double rigging ability. This amp is the best value for money imaginable.
Manufacturer Support
I have dealt with Line 6 for some technical support for one of their software products and they are the friendliest and most helpful people out there. Throughout 32 years of using music gear, I have not found anyone as polite and helpful at the team at Line 6.
The Wow Factor
From a technical and tone seeking perspective, this is the sexiest amp on the market.
