"BEST VALUE"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I just bought this thing at best-buy for 200 clams, they mjs marked them as standard pod's and I got the last one. As soon as I got home I ran this thing through a 10 watt monitor and it blew me away. The Soldano model is spot on, so is the Bassman. Replicating these two amps pretty much covers the bases for me. There is a shortcut to learning all the button tricks by the way-I DOWNLOADED THE EDITOR SOFTWARE (all caps means muy importante!). The software shows exactly whats going on with amp and effect settings simultaniously, and the whole shebang can be saved as a preset. AWSOME.

"Lots of amps!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Many of (even factory preset) modeled sounds are right on! Factory preset can also be considered as a starting point for creating your own sound. I find myself enjoying/playing with knobs and experimenting what it does. There is one thing. You won't be able to select the output type (PA/Direct, Combo, Stack) if you have headphone plugged in. Be sure to unplug the head phone when changing output type.
Features
It comes with power supply and usb cable. You can never have enough USB cables these days. I wish the basic foot switches are either included or sold at cheaper than what;s available.
Quality
It is very sturdy.
Value
I paid $399 + tax for it. And it is worth it. I just cannot get enough of it.
The Wow Factor
I cannot afford all of the amplifier to acheieve what tiny POD can do. I can get Fender Twin Reverve and Marshall stack side by side with touch of button! Yes, definitely sexy!

"Amazing... at first."

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
At first... The sound was impressive. It is truly amazing to have all these effects in one place and the versatility of being able to use the software for direct recording. But... You will grow tired of the sounds. The richness and depth of analog sound is missing. If you have a trained ear, you will hear a thinness and many gaps in the sound- this device "steals" sound. If you're in a good mood, practicing, or sketching recordings, it is definitely fun and useful. And you won't bother the neighbors at all if you are direct recording. And if you are playing gigs for drunk people, I guess it doesn't matter. But you will grow out of it. You need real analog sounds through a great tube amp, a great guitar or two, a few pedals, with sm57s or better for recording. But, it is actually very useful for certain situations, but not the last stop on the quest for tone.
Features
Very versatile.
Ease of Use
Extremely easy. I recommend using the software- much more intuitive.
Quality
Tough and reliable.
Manufacturer Support
Great. You can download updates from the website, which they are always adding to, and buy new sounds as well.

Line 6 PODxt Processor Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Ok, here's the deal. If you guys at line 6 aren't careful, some other company will come up with something a bit more organized, and steal your thunder. Watch out.
Sound
the only complaint I have is it buzzes a little for certain tones. I also question the capability of those who created the factory presets. Need to tweak everything. Other than that, this thing really kicks a$$. Not for those who aren't computer savvy. I love having access to every amp and effect at the touch of a button. Rock on line 6!
Features
Hey, I want more than 128 slots man!
Quality
rock solid.
Value
Are you kidding me? The amp and effects manufacturers must be shaking in their boots. Thanks to line 6, their sails will go straight down the toilet.
Manufacturer Support

"I approve of this product."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
When I'm a big star I'll need more power but for now it's great. My friend has a Spider II 112 and this sounds so much better for every type of sound. It helps me meet my musical goals. If it were lost, I would buy it again, otherwise my keyboard amp would go to waste.
Sound
I think it sounds good. It took me a while to get some good heavily distorded rythm sounds I like but that might have something to do with the the crappy stratocaster copy with moldy pickups that I'm playing. Still, I was able to get a very acceptable metal sound. It's certainly a lot better than my old Cube-15 with a stompbox. Clean sounds are great. I downloaded a patch off Customtone that made my guitar sound like an acoustic. I usually use it live through a keyboard amp. When I record I just have to tweak the EQ a little. Make sure you update it to version 2 though. You can also download some model packs for 50 bucks each. This guy just uses Podxt with all the model packs for his guitar tracks and it sounds great: www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=147108
Features
Has a usb port which allows you to do some pretty cool stuff from your computer, 2 outputs so I can run it into 2 amps for stereo effects. 4 band post EQ can be useful sometimes in making your tones a lot better.
Quality
It kind of looks like a toy. The XT Live looks much more professional. But it's very sturdy. I dropped it from about 4 feet up on to a concrete floor and it dented the floor and only scratched the XTs paint a little. It seems to get a little hot and it doesn't really have anything for ventilation but I've never had any problems.
Value
Sometimes I think that I should have bought a decent tube amp instead but this is pretty versatile and I can combine it with the keyboard amp and use it for bass.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't dealt with them. They release release updates fairly frequently.
The Wow Factor
It looks like a toy when you first see it. I have grown to like it however.

I love this unit. I would repace it if lost, damaged or etc. I still would like to see xlr jacks, a tc-electronic's scf added to the modeled stomp collection. I love all the new sounds.
Sound
I upgraded from a POD-2.0, I am very impressed with the clean sound as well as the overdriven sounds. I am also very impressed with the stomp box modeled effects. This is the first all in one unit that blows away my old floor unit (Korg A-4) How-ever, I still run a mxr dyno-comp. in front of this unit to get the sound I like. This is a killer unit, but I would be in heaven if this unit has a tc-electronic's scf stereo chorus+flanger.
Features
all accessories (power and usb cable) came with it, but their is still some info missing concerning downloading from internet and how to transfer from say a pod 2.0 to the xt.
Quality
I like my old pod color better, but whats in the color?
Value
this product is well worth its cost.
Manufacturer Support
I am still waiting to get details on programing.
The Wow Factor
it isn't a cute as the older pod.

"Good but not as good as Stompboxes. I havent owned to many loud big amps"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I liked how it has so much in such a small package. I disliked how it just doesnt come up to a stompbox, but after all, stompboxes only have to create a couple specific sounds, and with so much more electronics compared to the amount of sounds that need to be produced ratio.
Sound
I would characterize this product as an amazing good machine. The sound quality is not as heavy as a stompbox especially the Heavier tones. The xt helped in my recording and my live shows, I play at weddings and the customtone website really rocked in giving me the tones I needed for almost every song I played. When comparing it with the GT6 the heavier sounds outweighed the gt6s heavier tones, but when you hear a stompbox like "The Weapon" by digitech or any heavy metal stompbox, the xt doesnt come quite as close in the heaviness of the tone. I thought the "DEST" feature was swell where you could change the xts settings to match your playing or recording that you are doing, Of course if I had the money to buy all the greatest stompboxes I would, and if I could own every amp and have the space and soundproof room to play them all I would buy them. But if you arent one of those people I would say this is great for recording, and its very easy to use with the Guitarport software. I wish it worked like a plugin though, that would really rock! I gave it a nine but if there were a middle between 9 and 8 I would give it that.
Features
I bought mine new so all the parts came with it- Usb cable, power adapter. Too bad for those who dont get everything
Quality
It seems like it will last me along time. I am just selling mine because the Xt live came out and I am going to sell my xt for the XTlive, and I dont want to have to pay another $399.99 just for the pedals and the switches when I can get the xtlive for that same price.
Manufacturer Support
I live in Japan, maybe thats why they never replied. I dont know but none of my emails that I sent to line 6 was ever responded too. But the Forums on the line6 site have been my saviour and will still be I guess when I get my XTlive.
The Wow Factor
Its small and thats what I treasure probably the most about this.

"Love American Style. A marvel that has single handedly changed our world as we know it. This the cat's meow baby."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
See above.
Sound
Bring on the lama baby, this thing is pure and sweet azure. The velvety resonance that emanates from this puppy swishes back and forth in my head like the quivering waters of the seven sacred pools.
Features
Hey mon, do you want a hot apple pie with that? I mean really, what more can be demanded of a monumental unit of this caliber???? This cat gets a page in my book along with such fine classics as the '57 Chevy.
Quality
Built like a 1949 Thompson boiler unit. The other evening, I tried my own non-scientific test. I began twisting the knobs relentlessly while listening to my entire Pink Floyd LP collection. I then proceeded to depress all the bottons like I was hooked up to a 540V transformer while trying to beat a PS2 Friday Night at the Fights boxing game. The next day, after losing a pint of blood from my fingertips, I coddled my POD XT like a down feather quill. Needless to say, it still rocked.
Value
Enough change back from your half rock to buy a Big Muff Three Quarter Willy for your Hummer. Need I say more?
Manufacturer Support
This is superfluous since it just functions and continous to satisfy. To contact support is outlandish.
The Wow Factor
Having this is like taking roids and relaxing in a sea of tranquility. It supersedes my dreams of passing gas and drinking a cold Pabst on cloud 9 with Stevie Ray Vaughn.

"A non n00b review."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'll be using this forever, If I ever get my own studio I might just have it as apart of an older pc setup, but it's always going to be great for just ease of use and plugging in and recording, If you are a pc musician and don't have a great amp/mixer mic setup this is one of the best digital processors out there. I also own guitar rig 3,a digitech rp 200, a vox tonelab and a , neither can match the metal tones I can get out of this with expert tweaking.
Sound
It can create some amazing guitar tones. Far superior to digitech and vamp2, I would say it's probably the best guitar processor out there but the x3 came out. I also have the expansions for metal which are very good. I do live sound professionally and this is a great pedal people complaining about it probably don't know how to use it properly. check out http://www.myspace.com/iambulb to hear it used correctly. This is not my page. The distortion is awesome, I'm not sure what problems some others were having , I haven't heard it without the expansions but the distortion is great.
Features
It has every effect I need, plus a tap tempo! The processor is pretty fast It handled my drum vsts and comes with a slew of plugins and support. You get a ton of amps cabs as, also the ability to place the mics and the knobs are nice, works well with the gearbox software. It also has midi in and out so it's pure win.
Ease of Use
It's definitely not for n00bs, but I was able to dive in and setting it up , deep editing and creating tones is easier using the software but it was still cool. It's not your basic little effects processor it can but even using the presets you will still get great tone.
Quality
It's metal lml , literally , it this thing is a beast it would take a lot of pounding to destroy it, everything works like it should and the processor is fast enough to handle my vsts like ez drummer.
Value
I got what I paid for, I don't pay list price for anything though,
Manufacturer Support
I didn't deal with the company because I had no problems but , there is a forum community linked right on the sight, with extensive guides, and driver downloads which I did use. Everything was fast and easy to get to. Also you can share patches with each other, so you can download tone presets and the community of talented musicians that uses it , is enormous on most guitar player forums you will find guys who can help you with anything, and who offer their own tone presets for download.
The Wow Factor
It's got an lcd display that is always sexier than most basic lcds, It's just a digital processor though ,I don't care about the color of something , but it looks pretty hot next to my pc and mixer.

"If you want ONLY clean sounds, this is for you, if you want distortion and know what your talkin about then do not buy this item"

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I am just not satisfied with this product. It's given me nothing but frustration for the past 2 months. Ive spent countless hours upon hours fiddling and tweaking but never coming out with anything to be proud off. The best thing i could get was using a clean amp and cab and using my distortion pedal for the effect, (which hands down beat all of the distortion amps in the pod!) I am taking it back to the shop tomorow! If you want the clean effects and the free DAW then this is for you, (if you have the money for just those effects) but realy, if you have a trained ear, youl hear how thin and digital the sounds are in this unit.
Sound
Like most digital amp replicators ive found that they have great clean and chorus effects but realy bad distortion. Unfourtunatly, the PODxt is no different, (that being said it is deffinatly the best i have encountered), which is a shame as most of the gear i use is Line 6 and there all great. All of the distortion pre-sets are pretty dam bad. As another review said; At first they all sound great, however, once you get familiar with them, they do just sound crap :( HOWEVER... the reason ive been so leaniant towards the distortion end of the pod is its clean sounds. They are simply amazing, both when recording and when playing live. But thats not why i got the pod, it boasts the mesa boogie dual rectifer recreation, (practically the main reason i got it) but as far as sound goes, it just inst there. It sounds digital, and theres no two ways around it. I wanted "studio standard" distortion recording, but didnt get it.
Features
The Cab A.I.R. feature was quite cool and would have worked quite well if the actual amps them selfs where good. I found myself hurtling through all the cab settings for my distortion sounds but when i used the nice clean sounds i found that they where best in there origional form. Also Gear box is great. (basically a visual of everything your doing in the pod) Line 6 tone port didnt work on my duel core intel mac so i couldnt download any custom tones.
Ease of Use
I couldn't fault the Pod for ease of use. The LED window is INCREDIBLY easy (another reason i dont want to see the pod go) takes two minutes to
Quality
Looked great, everything was working ok (and yes sounding bad) until it just stoppd working. nice...
Value
As far as value goes, if you like all the presets on this then its very good value. However i don't and the price I payed isnt justified in 4 or 5 great sounding clean tones as i will not use them often and as said before, i got this peice of equiptment to record metal guitar distortion.
Manufacturer Support
Havent dealt with them, im just taking it back to the shop.
The Wow Factor
It looks great, the nobs and layout is great, the red colour looks realy nice. Basically its a nice peice of kit to have on your work desk, but thats if its for show only.

Sound
Thought it would be somthing I would use when I bought it, wrong. No matter what you have heard it the models do not sound like the orginals. It always ends up sounding like a proccesor not a real miked amp.
Features
Lots of features that all sound like crap,eg. the reverbs are real bad.
Ease of Use

Quality

"Save some money and grab the original Pod! XT does not deliver!"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
It really depends on what your looking for and how much you have to spend. If you like more of a sharp digital tube sound than grab the xt. If you like the more smoother non tube sound (vinnie moore/paul gilbert/yngwie) then grab the original and save some cash, Plus the floorboards are alot less also!
Sound
The Pod 2.0 sounds better than this version and is half the cost. The XT is more digital sounding and most of the tones come off sounding too sharp(like cheap tubes). If you like the sharp tube sound then this is for you! If your more into playing nice smooth leads then save a few bucks and get the original version. DONT THINK this sounds like a vetta because it doesnt!
Features
This unit does have a ton of features but most you done need or want. The more pedals and effects you add onto your sound the more noise and hiss you get! The noise gate can only do so much. The best feature of this unit is the computer editing program. Its nice to be able to mix and match cabs on the computer screen rather than on the unit itself.
Quality
Line6 units are always made well. I have dropped my unit many times and its built to last. No complaint here.
Value
To me its not a great value because the pod 2.0 sounds better and is almost half the cost. Plus the new floorboards you need for these units are way overpriced also.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to use them.
The Wow Factor
Theres alot of hype but the pod XT really didnt deliver like it should have. They claim to have the vetta technology in it but its just not happening.

Sound
It sounds just good. I think it is not easy to imitate the real sound of a real amp, but for recording ideas is just great. You should try the new rifftracker...
Features
have alot of effects, I think is very complet, unfourtanly if you want a footswitch or something you have to pay alot more...
Quality
great, no complains on the PODXT, however POD2 is not as good as this one
Value
I think it really worths the price.

"BAD TONE, great interface."

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I returned it after 1 month of frustration. Couldnt get the right tone.
Sound
This is a very poor sounding, artificial unit. Sound very contrived. Not the best Line 6 has to offer. Go with the Pod 2.0, much better authentic sounding guitar tones. Pod XT is way too digitized.
Features
Great features, great set up, great interface, if only it sounded like the POD 2.0, but it doesnt, stick with the 2.0, its worth it.
Quality
Well made, bad tone.
Value
Not good value, b/c Pod 2.0 sounds better and is cheaper.
