"Cool Mixer but now discontinued"

The mixer is a great combination of a DJ mixer, digital mixer, analogue mixer, live mixer/console and control surface. It pretty much does everything you could possibly want from a DJ mixer and live electronic performance mixer with enough inputs for lots of live synths, vocals and guitars. The major downside is that it is discontinued and although there are vista drivers that work in windows 7, windows 7 64 bit and vista 64 bit are limited to being fixed at the unit running at 44.1khz. Any above sample rates have issues and the problem wasn't resolved. 44.1khz is standard for CD audio and live performance but for recording, you'd want to record at a higher sample rate, which makes it a poor choice for a recording studio's main sound card. It also runs at +24db output instead of +4 so you need to work out where +4 is on the mains outs. The further you put it away from +4, the higher the noise floor will be but those who know what they are doing should be fine and should be able to get the noise floor at a level where it is acceptable. Just don't run it all the way down to -10db output like many unbalanced DJ gear. Plug the outputs of this mixer into the +4db mic inputs if you have to run it into another DJ mixer in a club (with the other mixers mic pres all the way down) or use two insert cables with the send out of each L + R XLR to the inserts on the other club's DJ console - then the noise floor will be very low. I haven't seen another mixer with similar features on the market since the Korg Zero 8.

Overall a good mixer, but the noise problems will prevent you from using it in a live situation... or for recording. Until Korg fixes the noise issue, I would recommend waiting to purchase.
Sound
The Korg Zero mixers are suffering from serious noise problems. There is a high amount of background hiss, which is noticable through both the master and booth outputs.
Features
At this point in time, the Korg Zero 8 provides the best MIDI layout for operating Ableton Live that I have encountered. It is almost perfect for my needs. I only wish there were more buttons for each channel, for assigning clip launch and stuff like that.
Ease of Use
It is quite easy to use the Zero 8. The Zero Edit software is great. Very customizable.
Quality
The overall build quality is good. The mixer itself is heavy and sturdy. The faders are too loose for my taste. I like faders to feel more like an Allen & Heath Xone 62. Crossfaders should be loose. But I think upfaders should be harder to move. I have to worry about accidentally hitting the upfaders on the Korg. The EQ knobs feel a little flimsy. I wouldn't use this mixer as a club install. I think the knobs would wear out quickly.
