"Great Amp, Great Price."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

Yep, can't go wrong with this amp.
Sound
Sound is fantastic. Not sure why other reviews claim the cleans aren't cherry...The cleans are excellent on the TBX150H. With all the sound options, the desired sound you're looking for is more than achievable. Distortion is nice and crunchy. Very nice, FULL sound. Even when cranked, the high notes are still evenly matched with the low ones and they mesh very well together. I'll say that the Peavey Half-Stack TUBE amp that I paid $900 for does NOT sound as good as the Ibanez. The tone is rich and full, and stays that way throughout a volume increase.
Features
Well, it's what it is....A 2 channel amp with a great clean mode...and a great rock/distortion mode. No digital effects, which is great. You'd only be paying more for the effects. Using a processor eliminates that problem. And even so, there's plenty of knobs to play with until something sparks your willy.
Ease of Use
Yea I thought I was going to have to contact my uncle Ronnie, a Rocket Scientist in Oregon to help me figure this thing out. Much to my surprise, I was able to follow these complicated steps: 1)POWER CORD-Amp Head to Wall. 2)POWER CABLE-Amp Head to Cabinet. 3)Line in from my processor (from guitar) 4)Power Button to "ON" WAAA-LAAA!
Quality
Seems to be built very sturdy with quality in mind. Cab is similar to Abrams army tank, head is heavy and demands respect.
Value
Simply can't beat the price. The others in it's price range aren't comparible as far as raw POWER. And the TBX does compete EQ-wise with those amps. For the price of the head and its cab is a STEAL.
Manufacturer Support
Ever tried to get a hold of IBANEZ? It's an adventure... BUT luckily never needed them for my amp.
The Wow Factor
VERY Sexy. I bought my stack a bra just so I could remove it.

I plan to be using this for a long, long time. Does exactly what I need for it to do.
Sound
Sounds pretty darn good. The distortion on the hot channel is excellent. If you are playing rock or metal you don't need any additional distortion. However, if you want that scooped out thrash sound this won't do it on its own. Get a pedal.
Features
Has two channels and all the stuff two channels should have. Reverb is really, really weak.
Ease of Use
Easy. All the nobs are the the standard standard stuff that everyone should know what to do with.
Quality
Made very well as far as I can tell. The covering on it is thin. It will scratch, and in a while will probably look like hell. Its guts are well protected though which is what matters.
Value
Definately worth the price. I think you are getting a much better deal here than with the competitors in this category.
The Wow Factor
Pretty sexy with the Ibanez logo on it (if youa re into Ibanez that is). Like I sad though, I think it is going to scratch pretty easily.

"Tone Blaster Half Stack"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Let's say this, if you want a very very loud, great sounding amp, at an affordable price, here it is! Clean or dirty, no matter which ax I plug in this amp does what it's supposed to. Dial it in and crank it up! Be aware though, this amp may have the police knocking on your door to turn it down! It loses nothing no matter where the volume level is set. Cant say that about other amps I've owned. The knobs are straight forward, simple to tweak, with no rocket science involved. Best of all, didn't need a credit card to buy it, so my wallet is happy as well. What a value! :)

"BEST SOLID-STATE HEAD IN IT'S $ RANGE"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This will keep me entertained for years to come!
Sound
True it isn't a tube amp, but this is the BEST sounding solid-state amp I've heard around! Loud as hell! Plain and simple. If your are into punk, psychobilly, metal, thrash, ska, or any other rock genre and you like solid-state sound (I do) this amp WILL NOT disappoint you!
Features
It has great distortion, great clean, good reverb, and pretty good overdrive channels. I wish it included the footswitch, but the IFS2X and IFS4X work fine with it.
Ease of Use
Very easy. Plug it in, rock out! Done
Quality
I got it with a couple tiny cracks in the finish, but it didn't affect the sound at all so I wasn't worried about it
Value
BEST AMP FOR THE CASH! BAR NONE
Manufacturer Support
Didn't need to contact anyone to work it. Doesn't get better than that
The Wow Factor
Very good looking amp! Makes me drool everytime I glance at it!

"The good, the bad and the ugly"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
It's a good solid state amp,but I'm sure I'd want to upgrade to a tube amp when I can afford one. This one is very good compared to Marshall's MG,or other solid state amps I've tried.
Sound
This is a good solid state amp. No,it's not a Triple rectifier, but it costs a fraction of that.Keeping in mind the price, this product is outstanding. The clean tones are a big surprise-very good for solid state.I plugged in my Boss acoustic simulator into the effects loop, and was blown away by how good it sounded. Channel one does the overdriven sound very well(think Lynard Skynard or AC/DC)Does it respond the way a tube map would? No,it doesn't.It won't give you that same response that an amp just on the verge of breakup does when driven hard. However, the high gain sounds are where this amp really shines. The midrange eq is extremely responsive, one of the best I've ever played. The gain is very usable-something no tube amp can do without some help from a pedal except at ungodly levels of volume.I play 6 and 7 string guitars, and it handles both very well. All in all,it stacks up very well with it's competition. For the price,it's a great amp,fun to play and easy to get extreme gain if that's what you're after.
Features
I had to order the footswitch seperately. It will turn the reverb on and off, select channels and activate the ultra function on the high gain channel. It has no onboard effects, except reverb.Reverb is passable, fairly subtle for a digital reverb.
Ease of Use
Instruction manual needs a serious upgrade.Very little information in it.Just gives you the bare minimum.I'm still confused about ohm ratings. Also had trouble using a distortion pedal with the clean channel.Even when it is giving you a clean sound, you have to dial the gain way back to get a good sound.
Quality
It's solid state,so no problems associated with tube amps.Build quality is good, but made from cheap particleboard, which will damage easily when hit or dropped. Electronics seem good-cosmetics are very good. It's a good looking amp,but you don't buy an amp for its looks. Storage compartment is a plus, but inspection of it's insides doesn't inspire confidence.Cheap particle board parts, cheaply made hinges, etc.Gotta cut costs somewhere.
Value
You get what you pay for. It's very loud-no question about that! It's a good solid state amp,has very pristine clean sounds,ok low gain sounds and very good high gain sounds. I'd like to try this with a Seymour Duncan twin tube mayhem and see if that might sweeten up the high gain sounds.Might give me the best of both worlds.
Manufacturer Support
Give them a 5 because I haven't had to deal with them.No idea if it would be easy or difficult.
The Wow Factor
The midrange and texture controlls really give you a lot of tone options.Easy to dial in "my sound" and shake the house off it's foundation.

"I got more then i paid for :)"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I have a Marshal 1960A lead cab so i wanted the jcm900 head that goes with it. But as long as they stay as pricey as they are I'm sticking with the solid state tone blaster cause it does exactly what it says it does and exactly what i want it too. And even if the finish wore out or any other jazz like that I play it till it wouldn't make sound anymore. Ive tried other amp heads that have more features and built in tuners and more channels but it is all extra money and you end up not using half the flashy stuff cause it is too complicated or not effective to change all the knobbys when you play live. So every bit of what you pay for you can use and that's what i respect about this head. If somebody stole this id cry for at least 3 days cause it works so well. and then i would definitely buy another one just like it. If i lost it? wait who loses the head of their amp?
Sound
I characterize the sound as loud real real loud. the sound quality is awesome even when i turn down to play alone or with people who only have small practice amps i still have the clarity of my settings. So i don't have to max the volume to overdrive the amp. I wanted a dirty sound as well as a sweet clean and i think this head provides everything I was looking for. I do use boss pedals and even without them i can achieve "my sound" I can get my sound on the clean channel with our without built in Ibanez overdrive as well as on the gain channel with or without that channels overdrive. I really like that kinda flexibility. I use the boss mt2 metal zone but if i didn't have the power adapter or 9v battery i could still plug the head in and play a show no problem.
Features
I think its still a 10 but it kinda sucks when you buy something and they are like look how rad it is with the foot switch which is separate. But the useful features are that there is no digital memory so when you switch channels the head is where ever you adjust it to. each channels has its own volume and gain and there is a Hue knob which is the best thing cause after you get your sound all dialed in you adjust this little knobby and get your perfect tone. So the only missing feature is a foot switch that comes with it!
Ease of Use
The manual is well written a few fun little drawings that show you all the things that will make it not work so you can keep it working for as long as possible. and a clear indication of what each knobby is. you can plug everything in without instructions and use the booklet they send and just set it up an turn each knobby and you can hear what it does very simple very user friendly. i was stepping up from a little two speaker comb amp at a half stack set up and this made the transition painless.
Quality
id say 8 cause it doesn't seem like it has any defects but i haven't got a chance to to really take it to many shows and set it up and break it down load and unload out of vehicles and on and off stages. But i intend to play shows with it. Seems like its lasting depends on how i treat it. which is like a fragile child cause i don't want to have to buy another head for quite some time. The finish is cool its like a 70's suit kinda pattern of dashes vertical and horizontal. you would have to see a good 70s suit or couch or curtains then look at the amp then you would see what I'm talking about
Value
Value was good for the price very worth it. good brand not as expensive as usual amps.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal with Ibanez support cause they make some great stuff like this head and the guitar i play GIO gax70. and Zzounds support is always good any issue gets dealt with quick cause every operator doesn't have to find their boss to fix a problems they just say well ship it our or other great words to hear when you need working gear and fast.
The Wow Factor
Big Ibanez logo in white does it get any sexier then that? well not for less then 300 bucks sorry marshall krank and mesa boggie. It is not only practical but there is not one feature i will not have a use for. and what i didn't notice when i ordered was the little compartment in the back. i guess its big enough to hold the foot switch but i use it to hold the power cable and the patch cable that connects it to the cab and the instruction manual lives in there also. Black is my favorite color and so this works for that but most guitar equipment is black.

"Just another solid-state amp."

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
If you are a true connoisseur of tone and think you're going to get anything close to a tube amp sound out of this rig, forget it. This is your common, garden variety solid-state amplifier with no layered tones and a dry, gritty presence. While it's true that this amp will produce an ungodly amount of distortion, it's one-dimensional, thin and shrill. And if you're into vintage rock or any genre that requires some soul and spirit, this is NOT the amp you want. Any time you add gain to the equation it hisses like a cornered snake and the tones will rip your head off. If you're someone young, on a budget or you just don't care and want to blast away with tone-destroying levels of distortion, buy this amp. If you buy this expecting it to sound like a tube amp, then you're facing certain disappointment.
Features
It's got a decent feature set, but the amp sounds like garbage.
Ease of Use
Sure it's easy to use, but the tone isn't there.
Quality
Looks good, works well, sounds bad.
The Wow Factor
Another boring solid state amp with no presence.

Ibanez TBX150H Amp Customer Review

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
This amp is very loud. 150 watts i mean come on. If you play heavier more agressive music such as metal this amp is not the one your looking for, unless you plan on using pedals then it works fine. As far as the amp by itself, With the distortion turned all the way up you get a really loud buzzing sound. also alot of feedback. The clean channel has not disappointed me, Its a clean channel. Definitely not a recording amp. Like i said if you use pedals then it will work fine. Its 250.00 so i mean its definitely worth that but no more.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use.
Quality
Built very well.
Manufacturer Support
No support needed so far.

"Don't be a snob!!!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Overall a great bang for the buck and then some...
Sound
Spirit and soul come more from your fingers and style than anything else. If your just gonna wank on one note all the time and go "Oh God , the tone!", then maybe its not for you. But for people that know how to play, they can make any amp sound good. The parametric mid eq provides a great deal of flexibility. The clean is relatively warm and clear, the overdrive does a good grit, and the drive channel can go from a good crunch up to heavy chunking. Loud enough to get over a loud drummer and then some, just remember if your cab is rated more than 4 ohms the power will be reduced somewhat (150 at 4, 100 watts at 8 ohms). Pinch harmonics are easy on this amp. VERY good bass response for palm mutes. My one complaint is that there is a slight noise when you switch channels, kind of a "click". X-mode will get you an MT-2 type of sound, not really a boost for the normal drive. I have played and bought countless amps over the years and this beats many tube amps that I have had. If you are obsessed with the tube amp sound, get a tube amp. If you are obsessed with good distortion bite, character and saturation, give this one a try... I use an Ibanez Raodstar II with a humbucker in the bridge position into a Carvin cab.
Features
Good features overall, like the independent reverbs. Also the compartment in the back for storing your footswitch and/or cables. I could do without the x-mode and just have a normal boost for the drive channel though.
Ease of Use
No issues.
Quality
So far it has held up well.
Value
For $250 this is a very good value. Loud enough for gigs. Need to buy footswitch seperately though, so an 8.
Manufacturer Support
Heve not dealt with the company yet.
The Wow Factor
Great looking amp too. Modern appeal.

"Not for tube obsessed idiots."

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Sounds like a solid state amp should. I don't know why everyone has to bring tubes into this, it never claimed to be a tube amp. Honestly this sounds way better than those crappy tube pre-amp solid state amps. At least you know what you are getting with this, oh by the way, Dimebag used solid state amps! Oops, I'm sorry did I strike a nerve with you tubies? Who can beat his tone? No one!
Features
Includes all the goodies you'd expect from a non-modeling amp.
Ease of Use
Um, plug it in and turn some knobs. Even a crackhead could use it.
Value
For the price, why not. It is a good backup especially if you use pedals.
