Gibson ES-333 Memphis Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Sound
It would be like trying to improve on a painting by Michael-Angelo! It sounds as good as any guitar I've ever played. The body is a tried and true design and has absolutely the finest tonal quality.AAAA+

Will play this until it wears out. Nice contrast to my Tele.
Sound
Definitely comparable to a 335; just a shade less full in the lower frequencies. Very nice on the upper frets. Sustain is excellent. Nice contrast between the pickups. Play through Rivera R-55 with Fultone FullDrive 2 and assorted Boss effects. Wide range of very expressive sounds useful for everything from jazz to jangly folk to blues to rock.
Features
Doesn't have or need "features." Tone pots could be have more fine adjustment in their range. Tuners are nice.
Quality
Finish somewhat uneven, but I expected this for the price. Bridge is set up kind of high off the top, but action is low. Intonation needed adjustment (out of the box) and is not perfect but I can live with it: slightly more disonance at the third fret than other guitars I've owned. Lower price (than 335) was well worth it.
Value
Very close to a no-brainer for someone looking for a semi-hollow, especially for day-in-day-out work.
Manufacturer Support
No idea.
The Wow Factor
Hope it DOESNT have sex appeal. Love the sound, don't care about the looks, except for a finish that will protect it and I won't know until I've had it a few years.
