I toured for years and did the whole ATA flight case thing. But now I am over 60 and lucky enough to play about 30 shows a year with a great horn band. My favorite combo (Line6 Spidervalve 112) is compact but weighs in at nearly 50 lbs. Putting that puppy in a real flight case would have made it virtually impossible to get in and out of my Jeep. The thin plastic Gator gives me all the protection I need for car transport and weighs next to nothing. It is the perfect compromise between a full blown ATA and a soft cover. And soft covers don't have wheels.....

Gator G-112-ROTO Amp Case Customer Review

I recently purchased this Gator Roto Molded Amp case and so far I'm really liking it. It offers much better protection then a slip cover and the locking wheels make the amp easier to transport, I also use it as an amp stand which means one less piece of gear to carry. It would be nice if Gator included some foam rubber to line the case with but I just bought some myself and cut it to fit the case. If you're a full time musician that does a lot of traveling a hard sided ATA case might be a better choice, but for a weekend hacker like me this works just fine, plus it's a lot lighter than the ATA cases.
