This thing has amazing sound quality. My Martin DCPA4 and Shure PG 58 sound incredible through it. If you are looking for huge bass out of the box than this unit isn't for you. However if you are like me and need a loud, clean ,very balanced sound then this could be your ticket. I either play by myself or with up to 3 backing vocalist. So I use a small unpowered mixer for vocals only on channel 1 and my guitar on channel 2. I play mostly smaller venues but occasionally up to 300 people. But they are typically more intimate shows without rowdy crowds. Wedding ceremonies , receptions, parties, small clubs and family get togethers that are acoustic shows. I appreciate it's incredibly fast set up time and ease of portability. It allows me to not get stressed about my arrival times and getting there early to do sound checks. Seriously an idiot could get an amazing sound from this thing in 3 minutes. The eq is perfect, the adjustable tweeter level and auxiliary inputs are great. The reverb is very musical. With my gear I have an incredible amount of headroom. I can stand directly in front of it while playing to tweek sound and not get feedback in small rooms. The antifeedback controls work perfectly. I love the height of the unit, as it seems to project clear sound over great distances and the small footprint keeps it from being in the way. I am very satisfied with the workmanship and thought put in today the unit. If I could have one thing it would be a little more bass response. Although it's not an issue while performing acoustically it would be nice for mp3 playback during intervals. But it's solid and it's not an issue for me.

"Big Quality Sound In A Little Package!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I could see possibly adding another Fishman SoloAmp to increase sound penetration and dispersion for bigger venues. A single SoloAmp is a very useful system for small- to medium-sized venues.
Sound
A very warm sounding guitar/PA setup that produces a full tone with plenty of clean bass response. The tone of this system is big in comparison to its light, small size!
Features
The controls have a decent selection of reverbs and EQ. The EQ sounds very musical for guitar. I plug-in my Fishman Aura-equipped Martins or my Gibson J-45 and RainSong DR1000 with Aura Dreadnought Pedal and can EQ the guitar tone using only the systems onboard 3-band EQ.
Ease of Use
A versatile system that's easy to transport, setup and use.
Quality
The Fishman SoloAmp seems quite well made and is easy to transport in its rolling gig bag. I've read a few comments from users saying they've experienced some ripping of gig-bag straps away from the nylon-woven fabric. I've not yet experienced this and hope not to as I'm very careful with my equipment.
Value
Excellent value given its power, portability and tone!
Manufacturer Support
Every time I've contacted Fishman about product information or other questions, I've always received quick and helpful responses.
The Wow Factor
Definitely a product that'll make a performer smile and feel good about owning and using it.

I've had the SA220 for a couple of years now and have gigged with it regularly. I'll keep this review simple just like Fishman kept the SA220 simple. This is without a doubt one of the BEST investments I've ever made. Easy set up/tear down, great sound, great quality. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is a solo performer. I run a Martin 000 and sing through this PA and it's great. Well done Fishman!

"SA220 Solo Amp"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

Amazing amp for Solo applications that require guitar and vocals. Only thing is the pop I get from "P" words that result to vocal clipping. So I just run it through some equipment to clear that problem but if it had something built in that would have been awesome. Easy to put away and set up! Its amazing what sound this thing puts out and it really brightens up the sound with the built in reverb. I enjoy the speaker and it has been a blessing to my music ministry. The shipping what REALLY quick. I was expecting a week and it was here in a couple days. Guys were great over the phone and I am very pleased this far! Thanks.

"Fishman SoloAmp Performance Amplifier"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

The Fishman Soloamp has performed better than expected. It has easily handled both small and mid sized venues for our 4-piece band. We have not had to use monitors. However, at louder volume levels we do have to be more careful with where we place the unit in referemnce to the michrophones to reduce the chance of feedback. This unit sounds much more dynamic and less compressed than all of the Bose units and at afraction of the weight o fthe Bose system. The wheelie-case is well integrated into the system and it is very lightweight. We have used it with and without and external mixer. It has performed well under both conditions. It has great clarity and extreme portability. But remember it is not suitable for use as a bass amp. For that you would have to add in a sub-woofer.

What can I say? The SA220 is so easy to set up and lightweight enough that I can make just one trip from my car to the stage or wherever else I might be playing. The same for getting back into my house. One trip. That's it. The setup took me like 10 minutes the first time, but after that it only takes 5 minutes. It's a breeze, and the sound is exactly what I needed. The controls are pretty much self-explanatory.

"Perfect For Solo Acoustic"

This system is excellent for the acoustic performer. It has better lows that one would imagine, nice reverbs, and it sets up in minutes. You won't be playing Yankee Stadium with it, but for small and medium size venues it is superb.

"One of my best investments in my sound"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I plan to buy another one and use two of them together for larger venues or when I play with a band.
Sound
I use the soloamp for my acoustic gigs. I play country, folk, and some old rock. I am in my sixties and bought this because of its sound and light weight. I also have a Fender SFX acoustasonic amp. I prefer the fishman for its portability. I run a fishman equiped Gibson J200 and a Seagull Maritime with a fishman ellipse and both sound great through this amp. I also use a fishman chorus pedal for a fuller sound. For my vocals I use a digitech delay and the onboard reverb. The soloamp has a surprising amount of bass and when linked with a powered sub sounds incredible for larger venues.
Features
The only thing I would like to see in the soloamp is a delay.
Ease of Use
For fingerpicking I turn off all tone controls. It is easy to set up your sound because no monitor is needed. What you hear is what the audience hears. I sometimes use a condenser mike along with the fishman undersaddle pickups in my guitars and get a great natural sound out of the soloamp. There is no feedback with this amp, at least with my guitars.
Value
It definitely isn't cheap, but it has payed for itself. I would rather put money into something of quality that I will like and use for a long time.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't used support yet

"Long Term Review"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

I bought a Fishman SoloAmp 220 new in 2011 - it was used 2~3 times a week for 6 years. I bought a second SoloAmp 220 in 2012 as a backup - this one was never used, other than the first initial checking to make sure it functioned when received. The first unit's electronics went out on channel 1 and 2 recently. Fishman advised me to disassemble the amp and can air out the electronics from dust. This seemed to work, but immediately afterwards, the channels went out again. Strangely - the 2nd SoloAmp that I never used in 5 years had the exact electronic outage when I turned it on to use it! So I now use both SoloAmps with a mixer connected to the Auxiliary channel on the rear of the amps. Poor electronics that even Fishman can't seem to figure out.

Amazing. It does exactly what I want it to do. The package I found was okay, but I found another that offered 3 mic.s, stands, mic. cables, 1/4" cables and a 1/4" to 3.5mm cable for the same price on another site. However, the Play as you Pay option is pretty cool so I'm not really complaining.

When this works, I love it !! However, this has been back to Fishman twice since I purchased it in July of 2011. Once was covered under warranty (still about $75 to ship it to MA from Iowa) and now another $92.45 for their bench charge & return shipping (not to mention appx $75 to ship a second time to Fishman).I saved some money buying this from ZZounds. However, that savings has now dissapated with the shipping & repair charges. I only play out once or twice a month. My PA's have lasted far longer with no repair problems
