Not sure what the other review is talking about, possibly just not enough experience. The Egnater Armageddon is a world class amp, especially for its price point. Me and some friends did an amp shoot out between the Armageddon, Marshall JCM2000 TSL 100, Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 36, Splawn Nitro, Diezel Herbert Bogner Ubershall and a few other highly regarded amps and the Armageddon won in every category, hands down.
Sound
Starting with the clean channel, the tight bright and gain switches bring this amp to a whole new level of versatility. I have a Marshall JCM200 TSL 100. I Also have several vintage fender amps. These 3 switches allow you to attain any and all of the clean tones offered from the fender and marshall amps. For the fender type of tones, you want to set the amp to tight -, Bright + and Gain +. Then tweak the Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble and volume knobs accordingly and you can attain any tone you want. Modern clean, british clean, Vintage American clean and new age Clean. (Read more on how to do this under features when I get into how fantastic the included foot switch is) But in a nut shell, simply put, the clean channel can do any type of clean tone you desire, including new age clean tones, funk and toss a Dyna comp in the fx loop and you will get some serious funk capability. Onto Channel 2 /gain 2. THIS channel is incredible, it also has the tight bright and gain + or - choices. The Channel 2 is a clean to moderate gain channel that will allow you to dial up anything from that sweet warm buttery Texas burn /bell curve SRV / Hendrix tone all the way to classic rock- ala Zeppelin with stunning and shocking results as to how perfect it nails these tones. (More on how in the features section of this review) Channel 2 shares the Bass Middle and treble controls with channel 3 but this is actually and asset and not a detriment if you know what you are doing because switching between the 2 while they share the tone stack, lends the amp to delivering you very accurate consistency. Channel 3, the "Metal channel" is incredible!!!! Also sporting the tight, bright and Gain switches, this channel is simply, absolutely brutal if you want it to be, or you can dial it back for a vintage marshallesque tone that delivers in spades. It can also get into the super crunchy new age saturated distortion tones that marshalls and splawns /diezels have to be modified to come close to. The palm mute and concussion this channel offers is second to none. It is thick, juicy sustainful and full bodied. It also had a lot of clarity, IE, if you have the gain dimed, it isn't a fuzzy mess, it offers full tone with clarity in your chording so not only does it deliver full warm and defined chords, it also delivers definition of each note in the chord. In some of the other amps we compared the Armageddon to, the Arma simply smoked the other amps with deep juicy articulate note delivery second to none, even compared to amps 3x its cost. We tested this amp with Gibson Les Paul's, Prestige Ibanez with air nortin and tone zone pups, Fender Stratocasters, EMG actives and EMG HZ pups, as well as Gibson high end paf pups and the Armageddon graciously delivered world class tone, no matter what pup we were using. The spill over reverb design is great, what this does is, if you have reverb on channel 2 and switch to channel 3, the reverb tail from channel 2 is not cut off, it incorporates the spill over design, never cutting off the reverb tails, yet blending them from one channel to another for seamless channel switching. In the Master section you have Density, Presence, and the master midrange controls that allow for a very full pallet of versatility. Simply put, this is the kind of amp that you play for 30-45 minutes, put your guitar down, look back at the amp, pick your guitar back up and say "Damn, this sounded incredible, its addictive and hard to get away from. This amp sounds more brutal in the 3rd distortion / 3rd channel (if you want it to be that Way)
Features
The features... 60 or 120 watt selection, the foot switch is awesome and the options it offers are second to none. Due to the tone controls on the amp combined with the controls on the foot switch, there is no tone you cant attain with a little experience and other tones to reference to. This is not a "Beginners amp" A couple other features only found on amps 3x this cost are the ability to swop tubes 1 and 4 as well as tubes 2 and 3, AND Bias them yourself. The instruction on how to do this are included with the amp, the Bias setting is user accessible, saving the user tons of $$ to swop tubes and bias the amp himself. It is not complicated an is explained in great detail via lamens terms. You can install virtually any tube in 1 and 4 tube positions and 2 and 3 tube positions. The ISP decimator is just icing on the cake. it makes the amp totally silent, and makes the palm muting concussion super tight. The reverb on the back is beautiful and is pristine sounding.
Ease of Use
For me, it was very easy to use and get dialed in. In 5 minutes of owning it, I was elated as to how easy it was to dial in and attain the tones and versatility I was hoping for. I am using mine with a pair of EarCandy BussBomb 2x12's loaded with Cannabis rex and CV75 speakers and the clean are pristine, the blues are warm and buttery (I have always loved the Bruno cow tipper, Channel 2 on the Armageddon blows the cowtipper away.
Quality
The amp is built like a tank, the front and back plate are metal, the knobs are big and easy to see and as far as reliability, looking at how this was built, with even remedial care, this amp is built like a tank.
Value
Absolutely, If I had paid twice what I paid for this amp, I would still be just as satisfied.
Manufacturer Support
I was fortunate enough to be able to speak to Mr. Egnater, I was torn between this and the Vengeance, I told Mr. Egnater what I was looking to do and he said "not trying to up sell you" but He promised me the Armageddon would make me 110% satisfied and he was right, I don't think I will need another amp for a very long time.
The Wow Factor
The wow factor comes down to how versatile it is, how thick, juicy and creamy all the tones come from this amp. You can dial in everything from classic rock, Splawn Nitro tones, super saturated new age distortion dripping with harmonics and sustain as well as clarity. I have had several cool amps, splawns, Marshall JCM's, HNK, Roland JC120's and none of them can hold a candle to the Egnater Armageddon. The foot switch it comes with is laid our perfect.

I bought this amp to fulfill a need in my studio. I was excited about the included ISP noise gate feature and though that it would have a super saturated and tight distortion channel and a decent clean channel. I'm assuming it is supposed to emulate a Diezel Herbert since it has the mid cut/boost/sweep feature that is a main feature on the Herbert. Now I have actually owned a Diezel Herbert, so I can actually compare the two and base my opinion on now owning both amps. My honest opinion the Egnater's gain channel is probably one of the worst I have ever heard for a tube amp. The ISP and the mid cut/boost/sweep does help a little bit, but overall it is horrible. Very hollow and lifeless. Nothing exciting or usable in the studio at all. I was very disappointed. I bought the amp for the gain channel mostly. The clean channel is decent, but nothing really exciting. Then again you don't buy an amp like this for the clean channel. In conclusion Egnater really needs to go back to the drawing board on the amp because it was a swing and a miss on this one. A total strike out! However the best part of this whole deal is zZounds return policy. Yes it did cost me $40 bucks in shipping to return this waste of electronics, but I was able to get a refund of the difference between this and the other amp I was looking at Peavey 6534+. They also shipped the Peavey for free. It took a couple of weeks for the refund exchange, but zZounds were very polite and quick on getting me an amp that would work for me. The Peavey 6534+ blows away the Egnater in every aspect and is $400 bucks cheaper!
