i use the mini-pre together with an audio technica 4033a mic and a roland vs 890 harddisc-recorder.
before i bought the mini-pre voices and guitars sounded cold and digital. the mini-pre adds a brilliant warmth for a really cheap price.
before i bought it i compared it with the art tube mp and other low-cost pre-amps.

Let's face it, didgital studios are great, the keyboards sound great, the guitar modelling is uniformay excellent, and the vocals sound like you did it on an answering machine. If you have a limited budget, but want to get as close as you can to a full finished sound this is a must buy item. It transforms dull flat vocals into warm, rich, full natural, and musical tones.

I use this for recording guitar and bass directly into my computer. The tube gain warms up the dry signal nicely. Sometimes use in conjunction with Tech21 Sans Amp Bass Driver DI for extra bawls. Tasty.

Quality:
Very well made. So far no trouble

Value:
For what it does,I think it should come down in price

Desirability:
Nice piece of equipment. I just wish it worked as well as it looks.

Sound:
It sounds great on guitar and bass with no noise but with a cad m-179 condenser mike the hiss is unreal.

Support:
Don"t know, never had to call.

Overall:
Already looking for a better pre for vocals but for a little warmth on guitar its ok. I just wish I"d knowed how noisey it was before I bought it.
